Formerly Harrison Appliance &
TV, R&R Systems, Inc. is located
at 1110 A Washington Street in the
renovated depot. It is Houston
Times-Joumal’s Business of the
Week.
The business is 42 years old; the
name change came in 1989, several
years after Mr. W.B. Harrison,
founder, passed away. His son,
Bobby Harrison, and Bobby’s wife,
Mary Lynn Harrison, now own and
operate R&R Systems, Inc.
Harrison says that they sell a ser
vice, home cable systems. The
technology was developed from the
satellite industry. It evolved into a
subscription-fee-type service, pro
viding cable programming for peo
ple who live in rural Middle and
South Georgia. Their service area
covers the counties from 1-20
southward (65 or more counties).
The business has 12-15 direct
sales people, 10 installers and two
or three office personnel.
R&R Systems, Inc. is an autho
rized Toshiba satellite equipment
dealer, and is recognized as in the
top 10 dealers in the country,
Harrison says.
“When people subscribe, they
know what they are going to get,”
he added.
The company placed over 1,000
systems in 1993
The home dish owners in rural ar
eas can now receive the same, and
more, than in-town customers,
Harrison said.
Today is the day of new small
dish technology. Dishes are
smaller and more attractive than the
first ones.
The system is also called direct
broadcast cable from over 150
channels (movies, sports, news,
services, family, children, bi-lin
