However, the Jets didn’t return back home to Warner Robins entirely empty-handed, beatine the women 66-12. The men’s team was paced by the field events. In the long jump, Fred Marshall beat out teammate Paul McGhee with a jump of 18-7. McGhee’s jump was two feet shorter at 16-7. Terrance Joiner also beat out a teammate in the high jump competition. His jump of 4-10 was two inches higher than Corey Whitten’s jump of 4-8. Joseph Smith finished second in the discus with a toss of 107-9, and Jason Hill finished third in the shot put with a throw of just under 33-5. In the 400 meter relay race, McGhee, Robert Jones, Justin Tabor and Marshall took first place honors, running the quarter mile in a time of 48.16 seconds. Marshall showed his speed in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. In the 100 meter race, he beat teammate Terrance Joiner across the finish line by a second, with a rime of 11.24. Joiner, who finished second, came across 12.20 seconds after the race started. Marshall and Joiner tangled in the 200 meter race also, with Marshall finishing first in 24.9 seconds and Joiner second in 26.1 seconds. The 1,600 meter relay team anchored by McGhee finished first with a time of 4:19. Don't set there and keep waiting until next weekend.
