■ Saturday, April 16,1994 "Houston Timos-Journal Page 2A Death notices Aurelia Martin Pierce Aurelia Martin Pierce, 72, of 1026 Keith Dr., died Wednesday, April 13,1994. She had resided in Perry for 48 years and was a member of the Perry United Methodist Church. Aurelia was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband G.T. Pierce, Jr. Survivors: niece and nephew, Mini Martin and Jason Martin, both of Alpharetta, Ga.; sister-in law, Carolyn Pierce of Perry, brother-in-law, Ed Pierce of Perry. Services: Graveside services were held Thursday, April 14, 1994 in the Marshallville City Cemetery. The officiating clergy was Dr. Marcus Tripp. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry had charge of arrangements. Cotton heralded as outstanding adult educator Dr. Richard H. Cotton, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.H. (Hal) Cotton of Perry, was selected by the Georgia Adult Education Association as the "Outstanding Adult-Continuing Educator" in Georgia. Cotton, a 1965 graduate of Perry High School and Director of Continuing Education and Public Service at South Georgia College in Douglas, received the award at a recent meeting of the GAEA. The award, which is the most prestigious and most rarely given award conferred by the association, is given in recognition of unusual and extraordinary contributions to the field of adult and continuing education over and extended period of time. In presenting the award. Dr. Brenda Tiller cited Cotton’s work on the Strategic Planning Committee of the National University Continuing Education Association which resulted in that association expanding its membership base to smaller institutions, his service for the past 15 years on the Southeast Georgia Private Industry Council, and his numerous contributions to both the Auto workshop is free for all women A free car maintenance seminar for women will be held Thursday, April 21st, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Middle Georgia Technical Institute. The seminar is sponsored by MGTI and HODAC's Rape Crisis Program. Topics covered will include: Basic car maintenance, emergency items to take on trips; how to avoid auto mechanic scams; and how to talk to a mechanic. It is a perfect seminar for college bound females as well as for every woman who just wants to know more about car maintenance. Tiller also pointed out that this award has been conferred only 19 times in the 39 year history of the association and that as the 1982 recipient of this award. Cotton becomes the only person to have been so honored twice in his 23- year career. Free screens to be offered by dentists Drs. Anthony Deloach and Robert Pierce of Perry are offering free dental screenings for children entering Georgia public schools for the first time. The screenings, sponsored by the Georgia Dental Association, have been offered for 12 years as a com munity service to help Georgia children and their parents fulfill the requirement by the Georgia Department of Human Resources for rudimentary eye, ear and dental examinations for first-time public school registrants. This service is primarily in tended for children whose family does not have a regular family den tist. This exam is not intended to replace a regular dental examination and does not include a cleaning or x-rays. However, the screening does detect obvious dental problems of which parents should be aware. Pierce and Deloach are two of approximately 700 members den tists who volunteered to participate in this community service. Wynn is an Attorney with a general law practice in Houston County. Wynn’s main concerns for Houston County are protecting the future of Robins Air Force Base, creating new jobs, continuing the quality education of our children, operating county government within the tax cap, assisting our senior citizens, cooperating with the Houston County Sheriffs Department and the District Attorney's office to work for a safer Houston County and also assuring the orderly growth of Houston County. Wynn received his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degree from Mercer University. Wynn has experience as an Attorney, and Managerial experience in the finance business. Randy Wynn has been married for 23 years to Linda Ward Wynn. She is employed by Lawyers Title Insurance Corp. Mr. and Mrs. Wynn are the parents of two sons and three daughters. Randy Jr. is 21, and is employed with Eddie Wiggins Ford; Scott is a full-time student of Middle Georgia College; Carrie, Sheri and Susie all attend Warner Robins High School. Randy Wynn Green Acres Baptist Church, where Randy served as a Sunday School Teacher. Randy Wynn moved to Houston County with his family in 1969. He has given much of his time developing and guiding youth activities. Wynn has coached youth softball and basketball. Randy Wynn currently serves as the Parliamentarian on the Executive Committee of the Houston County Chapter of the Democratic Party of Georgia.
