FORT V'ALLEY-Gordon L. Holden, 79, of Cannes Sl. died Saturday,

Bora ia Carterwilk, he was a retired machinery mechanic at Bibb
Manufacturing Co. He was a member of Woodmen of the world and
Schley Baptist Church m Moultrie. He was a World War II veteran.

home in Fort Valley. Burial took piace at 4 pat is the Schley Baptist

Johnnie Franklin Langston
Johnnie Franklin 1 .angora, 49, of 644 Pins Ridge Drive, died Friday,
April 15, 1994 at his residence. A lifelong resident of Houston County,
he was the son of the late Emory S. and Bertha Carter Langston. He as a
fireman for the City erf Perry and had acamed the rank erf sergeant. He was
a Baptist. Survivors: wife, Mary Calvin Langston erf Perry, son,
Grayson Langston erf Crawfardville, Fla.; brothers. Gene Langston of
Peny and Herman B. Langston and Emory langann. both of Centerville.
Services: Were held Monday, April 18, 1994 in the Woodlawn
Cemetery in Perry. Dr. John O. Yarbrough officiated. Watson-Hunt
Funeral Home in Peny had charge of arrangements.
John A. Tucker Jr.
WARNER ROBINS-John A. Tucker Jr_ 61, erf 105 George Circle, died
Saturday, April 16, 1994. Born in Wakefield, R.L, he was a retired
technical sergeant erf U.S. Air Force and was an aircraft technician far
Rooms Air Farce Base. He was a Korean War veteran. He was a member
of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warner Robins, the DAV in Warner
Robins and the National Rifle Association. Survivors: wife, Ida S.
Tucker of Warner Robins; children, George Cannes of Perry and Judy
Ashmore of Bonaire; sister, Joan Santos of Stonington, Conn.; father,
John A Ticker Sr; sewn grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services: Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, April 19, 1994 in
the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Burial took place in the
Magnolia Park Cemetery. Father Fred Nijem and Father Robert Chaney
officiated. A rosary was held Monday, April 18, 1994 at 7 pun. in the
McCullough Funeral Home in Warner Robins. Donations may be made
to Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 5052, Warner
Rctens, Ga. 31099.
Melvin H. Collier
Melvin H. Collier, 80, died Sunday. April 17, 1994 in the Trident
Regional Medical Center in Charleston, S.C. Ban in Wetumka, Ala., he
had resided in Hanahan, S.C. for about 35 years and also had a second
home in Perry for approximately 30 years. He was a retired building
contractor for both commercial and residential. He was the son of die late
Joseph T. and Rither Grier Collier and was married to Ina Hagan Collier.
Survivors: wife, lea Hagan Coiner of Hanahan, S.C. and Perry;
children, Melvin G. Collier of Perry, Ina C. Hutson of Hanahan, S.C. and
Patricia C. Lamons of Goose Creek, S.C.; brothers, El wood T. Collier erf
Jacksonville, Fla.; step-brother, Ray M. Smith of Hanahan, S.C.; 12
grandchildren: and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services: Will be held Thursday, April 21. 1994 in Christ’s
Sanctified Holy Church at 2 pun. Burial will take place in the church
cemetery in Peny . Waison-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry has charge of
arrangements.
Marlon Larry Brown
Manor Larry Brown, 77, of 706 Evergreen Street, died Monday, April
18, 1994 in the Medical Center of Central Ga. Born in Fort Valley, be
was the son of the late Robert E. and Coralie Scroggs Brown. Marion was
a retired owner aid operator erf the Peny Veneer Co. He was preceded in
tearh by his firs wife, Caroline Nunn Brown and his second wife Dorothy
Newhard Brown. Survivors: children, Jan Crawford of Cartersville,
Ga., Larry Brown erf San Antonio, Tx. ami George Brown erf Peny, sister,
Coralie B. Nunn of Perry'; brother, Robert Brown Jr. of Boca Raton, Fla.;
five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services: Will be held Thursday, April 21. 1994 in the Perry United
Methodist Church at 11 a_m. The officiating clergy will be Dr. Marcus
Tripp and Dr. Billy Key will officiate. Burial will take place in the
Evergreen Cemetery . In lieu erf flowers, the family requests donations be
made to: Perry United Methodist Church, Perry, Ga 31069. Watson-
Hunt Funeral Hone in Perry has charge erf arrangements.
Thomas graduates from Air Assault School
At Kansas Stale University in
Manhattan, Stephen Thomas was
presented the Air Assault Badge
upon graduation from the U S.
Army's Air Assault School.

Kiwanis Club, said, 'Marion
Brown was the epitome of what a
Kiwanis Club member should be.
That is why I wanted him as my
advisor.’
Mayor Jim Worrall met the
Browns when be moved to Perry
several yean ago. After Jim be
came Mayor of Perry, Brown would
sometimes slip into the mayor's of
fice and make good, practical sug
gestions.
Worrall said, 'He was a driving
force—a motivator. He let Kiwam
ans know that they had a responsi
bility to serve their fellow man.
He put his words into action.
Whatever the task, he got the job
done. He was a pillar of strength in
church (Perry United Methodist
Church). He and Brother J. B.
Smith were very active in Project
Agape Love (P.A.L.) and literally
got it off the ground.'
Another fellow church member
and Kiwanian, L. Cohen Walker, in
speaking of Marion Brown said,
'When I think of Marion, 1 think
first of his loyalty to Perry United
Methodist Church through the
years. He was always there, always
willing to do his fan and could be
counted on for his sound judgment
Thomas is the son of Henry L.
and Estelle Thomas of Perry and is
a 1982 graduate of Perry High
School.
’He was a fine citizen, working
for the betterment of the commu
nity, always willing to help carry
the ioad.
'He was a person who could be
counted on. He was as good as his
work-a trait that is not always seen
in today's world.
'He will be greatly missed in
many places.’
Marion L. Brown was preceded in
death by Caroline Nunn Brown,
first wife; and Dorothy Newhard
Brown, second wife. Survivors in
clude children; daughter, Jan Craw
ford of Cartersville, Ga.; sons:
Larry Brown of San Antonio,
Texas, and George Brown of Perry,
sister, Coralie B. Nunn of Perry,
and brother, Robert Brown, Jr.,
Boca Raton, Fla.; five grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at
Perry United Methodist Church at
11 a.m., on Thursday, April 21,
with burial in Evergreen Cemetery ,
Perry, Ga. Officiating clergy will
be Dr. Marcus Tripp and Dr. Billy
Key.
In lieu erf flowers, the family re
quests that donations be made to
Perry United Methodist Church,
Perry, Ga. 31069.
