Break-ins
reported at
dog show
BY BRENDA THOMPSON
Staff Writer
Thousands of barking dogs didn’t
deter thieves from taking more than
a thousand dollars in cash and other
valuables from the vans and motor
homes of out-of-towners visiting
the Georgia National Fairgrounds
and Agricenter this weekend.
While in town for the Peach
Blossom Cluster Dog Show, three
Agricenter visitors filed reports
with the Perry Police Department
saying that someone had entered
their unattended vans and campers
and walked away with wallets, $430
in currency, jewelry valued at $425
and a bicycle worth $l5O.
None of the vehicles involved
were locked at the time of the inci
dents and none were forcibly en
tered. Each theft was believed to
have occurred in the morning or
early afternoon hours.
Some of the stolen property
two wallets emptied of cash and the
bicycle-had been recovered by po
lice on the Agricenter grounds as of
Monday afternoon. However, no
suspects have been indicated, ac
cording to the investigating officer,
Detective Leyon Roberts.
