Governor Zell Miller recently signed a proclamation
designating April 29 as Gifted Education Day in the state of
Georgia. In the proclamation, Gov. Miller takes not of
approximately 50,000 gifted students served by special
programs in Georgia. Over 1,100 teachers trained in
education for the gifted work with this challenging group of
students in grades K-12. "Georgia's gifted students provide
the state with a vast potential of leadership in all areas of
society" the proclamation states and urges all Georgians to

tree at local fire department
On Friday, April 8, Ms. Donna
Tripp and Chandra White brought
14 children from Meadowdale
Learning Center to the Perry Fire
Department to help plant a
Dogwood tree on the grounds This
is an annual project
They met Fire Chief Gary
Hamlin, Wade Williams, owner of
Williams Landscape and
Meadowdale Learning Center, and
Mark Willis of Williams
Landscape.
The children eagerly watched as
the hole was prepared and the large

to gather around the tree and fill the
hole with dirt - which they did with
enthusiasm!
Children who participated were:

Davidson, Justin Ellis, Johnny
Farms, Marquis Brown, Amy Rice,
Jenna Clark and Nacosha Howard.
Mr. Williams donated the tree, as
he did last year.
