Robert Morris "Pop" Horton
Robert Morris "Pop" Horton, 75, of 532 Ochlahatchee Drive, died
Wednesday, April 27,1994 at his residence. Bom in Tallapoosa, Ala., he
was the son of the late Charles H. and Iris Mae (Bradley) Horton. "Pop”
was a heavy equipment operator with Houston County roads and bridges
department, a member of the Grovania United Methodist Church and was
married to Sara Wheeler Horton. Survivors: wife, Sara Wheeler Horton
of Perry; children, Donna H. Maggard of Athens and Larry Horton of
Grovania; step-children, Janet Rainey, Terry Lawhom, Dennis Lawhom,
Michael Lawhom, all of Perry; 13 grandchildren; and four great
grandchildren.
Services: Will be held Saturday, April 30, 1994 in the Perry Untied
Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Burial will take place in the Woodlawn
Cemetery. The Revs. Charles Lamb and George Tribble will officiate.
Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Exchange Club announces projects

In continuing their promotion of
child abuse prevention, the Perry
Exchange Club recently announced
their participation in two special
projects-a greeting card contest for
children and an annual road block to
raise much-needed funds.
The contest, which is sponsored
by the National Exchange Club and
the Exchange Club Child Abuse
Prevention Centers, is a holiday
greeting card contest entitled “Peace
on Earth, Good Will Toward Chil
dren”. It began on April 1 and coin
cides with national observances of
Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Perry entries, several Perry and
Houston County schools with
students ages six through 12
participated. Their entries were
picked up on Wednesday, April 27,
and are being forwarded to the
Exchange Club’s national offices in
Toledo, Ohio, where judges will
review them along with other
entries from throughout the nation.
Six winners will be selected in
the contest, one male and one fe
male, from the following age cate
gories: 6-8, 9-10 and 11-12. Entries
will be judged according to the age
level based on creativity, originality
and relevance to the contest’s
theme.

a program Bank South kicks off on
May 1, 1994 involving a five
percent discount at Kroger's (10
percent for seniors on Wednesdays
at Kroger's) and other participating
merchants for a six month period.
During this time, check card holders
will receive the five percent
discount any time the check card
(also known as a debit card) is used.
The new Bank South Check
Card is like a plastic check,
assessing money in the holder's
checking account, which is accepted
at places that do and do not take
personal checks, if the merchants
take Master Card.
