Calendar of Events The Masons of Houston Lodge No. 35 F&AM, Perry (Thomas Fast, secretary, 987-2376) meets every second and fourth Monday night of each month at the Masonic Building, Jemigan Street. Meals are served at a nominal charge beginning at 6:30 p.m. Regular meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. All member Master Masons and visiting brethren are welcomed. Perry High Booster Club: Meets every 2nd Monday of each month at Perry High School at 7:30 p.m. Houston Drug Action Council (HODAC): A free rape support group is now being formed. The group will begin meeting on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at Houston Drug Action Council, 2762 Watson Blvd., Warner Robins. (Next to Warner Robins Supply) Those interested in attend ing please call 953-5675. American Legion, Robert D. Collins Post 24 meets the first Monday night of each month at the County Ag Building at 733 Carroll Street. Meals are served beginning at 7 p.m. All American Legion members are urged to attend and visiting Legionaries are welcome. Support Group in the Perry area for caregivers of persons with Alzheimers idsease or related disorders such as dementia Parkinsons, Picks disease, depression and others will meet through April on Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. in the Medical Library of the Perry Hospital. Their goal is to make a difference in the lives of people with Alzheimers and their families. A Forum is scheduled for April 21 at 7 p.m. hospital cafeteria. Houston County Retired Teachers: Every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 11:30 a.m. at the Holiday Inn in Warner Robins. Perry Rotary Club meets each Monday at noon at the New Perry Hotel. The Perry Evening Optimist Club meets the first and third Thursday of each month at Denny’s. Perry Exchange Club meets each Thursday at Quincy's at noon. The Perry Wilderness Society meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at the Perry United Methodist Church lo cated at 1001 Carroll Street in Perry. Newcomers are welcome. Tuesdays & Thursdays: Step Aerobics from 6:30-8 p.m. Sponsored by the Perry Recreation Department. Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Perry High School Cafeteria. Deborah Hamlin, ACE Certified Instructor. 10 weeks is S3O. This is an on-going program. Children's Grief Support Groups will begin the first week in March for Children who have lost a loved one to death. Groups will meet according to ages from Kindergarten and first grade through teen years. These free groups will meet for 6 weeks. Registration is being accepted now. Community Action Agency is currently accepting applications for Perry Head Start through May 27, 1994 for the 1994-95 school term. All children must be three (3) years of age on or before September 1, 1994 and meet Head Start eligibility requirements. Parents with special needs children are encouraged to apply. Pleast contact Johnnie Green or Nettie McKenzie at the Perry Head Start Center at 988-4256 to learn all the requirements for acceptance. April 30: Field of Dreams Sinclair Division team tournament will be held Saturday, April 30, 1994. All tournaments are out of Little River Park. Entry fee is SIOO pre-register, add S2O late fee for day-of-register. Headquarters is the Jameson Inn on 441 in Milledgeville. First place pays over $2,500, based on 100 boat field. Due to the long lines it is strongly suggested competitors mail their entry forms early and get pre-registered. Mail to: 697 Henry Scott Road, Ball Ground, Ga. 30107. Teams should begin arriving around 5 a.m. April 30: The Calvary Quartet in Concert on Sat., April 30, 1994 at 7 p.m. in the Perry Free Will Baptist Church at 1964 Marshallville Rd. April 30: Byron Bunch Square Dancing Club is having a Barnyard Festival dance on April 30th from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the establishment of Byron. The cost is $3 per person and $1 for spectators. We will be meeting in the old Byron Elementary gym so please wear your tennis shoes and your best barnyard apparel. Refreshments will be served and we will have door prizes and a cake walk. See you there!! ARENA SITE Saturday, Aprl 30,1994 Houston Times -Journal * Group announces fund raiser to help the needy Poverty Outreach will sell chicken and fish plates at the rear of the Agriculture Building on Carroll Street Saturday, May 14 1994 to raise funds to help destitute individ uals pay bills. Price of plates is $3.50 each. Poverty Outreach raises all funds from private contributions and churches. No funds come from state, federal or county monies. Poverty Outreach also encour ages support from churches and civic groups. Presently, only three churches in the area contribute funds on a monthly basis. Anyone wishing to contribute may contact Thelma Ross (987- 2047), Lila Redmond (987-1620), Deloris McGhee (987-2978) or Ethel Williams (987-3340).
