Chiropractics may aid sciatica sufferers When the sciatic nerve is inflamed, the condition is called sciatica, pronounced si'ad-a'ka. Sciatica sufferers often have severe pain along the sciatic nerve path, usually in the back of the legs and thighs, sometimes, to the ankle, foot and toes. There's not only searing, sharp pain but also parasthesia-strange nerve experiences such as pins and needles, burning, tingling, prickling, crawling sensations or tenderness-that may be felt. Ironically, along with all the pain and nerve sensations the leg might feel numb. To complicate matters, the location of sciatica pain may vary. Although it's usually in the back of the legs and thighs, in some individuals the pain is in front and side of the legs. Sometimes the pain is in the hips. Like most other conditions, sciatica has a wide variety of causes. Unlike most other conditions, however, this health problem's relationship to the spinal column is often very obvious. The common approach to sciatica pain includes treating the symptoms using painkillers, muscle relaxers and various orthopedic treatments which may include traction, physical therapy and other therapeutic measures. Relief may be obtained from injections of painkillers directly Rainbow reps join GCCA symposium Kathy Garnett and Lori Howard were two of over 900 people attending the Tenth Annual Training Symposium on Child Abuse sponsored by the Georgia Council on Child Abuse (GCCA) in Atlanta on April 18 and 19. A TRIBUTE TO MY BROTHER Dear TVacy, In a world of confusion and hnartache you were there as a beacon oflight... You gave me the strength to stand up for my convictions and to walk this path of life with courage ... Like a ship out at sea, you were y anchor during the times when the surf was rough ... Always there as a constant reminder that I wasn't alone ... My little brother who always knew intuitively when things were good or bad for me ... You were there with a quick joke or a reassuring hug .. . Now 1 find myself without you ... The only thing that keeps me going is my faith that you were finished her and needed elsewhere ... So even though we may not be together here on Earth, 1 take comfort in knowing that you are with me in spirit and I will hold you forever close in my heart. Thank you all, The Family of Robert Horton excellent results with no painful relapses, 34.4 percent had relapses but then responded favorably after further Chiropractic care. 15.2 percent showed no significant improvement. Rather than a disease-oriented approach that asks: "How can we get rid of your problem?", the doctor of Chiropractic asks: "How can we make your body stronger so it may heal itself?"
