Survivors: wife, Lillie Bowden of Valley Head; children, Joellen Welch of Chattanogga, Tenn., and Karen Freeman of Valley Head; brothers and sisters, Rufus Bowden and Zona McCary, both of Byron, Joyce Whitehead of Fort Valley, and Gloria Mashbum of Roberta; stepbrothers and sisters, Bill Hatchett and Hugh Hatchett, both of Fort Valley, Annie Stephens of Powder Springs, and Maxine Forehand of Perry; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Services: Will be held Wednesday, May 18, 1994 in the Bethany Primitive Baptist Church in Fort Valley at 2 p.m. Burial will take place in the Oaklawn Cemetery. Elder Norman Randall will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Bethany Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Homer Gassett, 118 Forsyth St., Fort Valley, 31030. Rooks Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. Eugenia Womack WARNER ROBINS-Eugenia "Doll'' Womack died Friday, May 13, 1994 at her residence. Bom in Houston County, she was the daughter of the late William and Winnie Bonner. She was a member of Sandbed Baptist Church. Survivors: husband, Johnnie Lee Womack Sr. of Warner Robins; children, Melvin Womack, Pamela Williams, Marcus Womack, Sanda L. Womack and Noel A. Womack, all of Warner Robins, and Annie Marie Womack of San Antonio, Tx.; stepchildren, Johnnie M. Harris, Dorothy Johnson and Johnnie L. Womack, Jr., all of Warner Robins and Linda Milton of Tucson, Ariz.; sisters, Lillie M. Farms of Kathleen and Trudy M. Harris of Warner Robins; and several grandchildren. Services: Were held Tuesday, May 17, 1994 in the Sandbed Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Burial took place in the church cemetery. The Rev. David Savage officiated. Bank South opens two new offices in Kroger Bank South announced today that it will offer customers in Houston County the convenience of banking where they shop for groceries, seven days a week until 8 p.m. Bank South will open two new InStore offices inside the Kroger stores in the Parkway Station Shopping Center in Warner Robins and the Perry Marketplace Shopping Center in Perry. Perry will be named "Commemorative Community" by planning events to recognize the anniversary including a proclama tion recently signed by Mayor Jim Won-all. The proclamation recognizes the men and women of Georgia who fought and died throughout World War 11, in battles from North Africa to Europe, to Hawaii and to the is lands in the Pacific Ocean. An estimated 324,373 Georgians answered their nation’s call; 11,650 were wounded and 4,831 made the supreme sacrifice for our country during World War D. "It is a privilege and is in the best interest of our state and nation that we express our gratitude to our World War II veterans whose sacri fices should serve as constant re- Cochran company to perform DOT project The Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) has accepted 109 of the 113 apparent low bids received in its April 22, 1994 contract letting. The total cost of these statewide projects will be $63,052,785.48. A contract award was made which calls for construction in Houston County. A contract was awarded to Everett Dykes Grassing Co., Inc. of Cochran for 19.136 miles of plant mix resurfacing on various streets in Perry, Warner Robins and Centerville; also various county roads. The low bid amounted to $469,866.50. the scheduled completion date is Nov. 30, 1994. Roadway improvement projects are an integral aspect of the DOTs commitment to providing the best in transportation for the citizens of Houston County and the entire state.
