Parents and other family members attended the program entitled "Oh The Places You’ll Go!" Meadowdale attendants graduate from local center By PAULINE LEWIS Staff Writer Twenty-seven excited Meadowdale Learning Center students and their parents, grandparents, aunts and un cles gathered at the center on Houston Lake Road Wednesday morning for graduation exercises. The occasion also marked the fourth anniversary of the operation of the center. The program was entitled "Oh, The Places You’ll Go!" Ms. Chandra welcomed the large group of visitors and read a story by Dr. Seuss about choices. Some of the children, dressed in costumes representing their chosen occupations when they grow up came out to the microphone one at the time, told their name, age and their choice for a vocation. The graduation procession sang "It’s Time To Go To School" and "Off To Kindergarten", accompanied by Ms. Brenda Long on the auto harp. The poem "Growing Up" was read and a diploma given to each child as they marched up front. This was the largest group to "graduate" from Meadowdale. The Class of 1993-1994 included the following children: Perry United Methodist This Sunday evening the church will hold a joint service with Crossroads UMC. Preaching will be Rev. Philip Thomason and there will be special music by joint choirs. The church will celebrate The Lord's Supper Sunday morning. The church welcomes its newest members, Lawrence and Adrienne Walker. Their sons, Ben and Cody, have become preparatory members. Adventure Club Family Picnic will be held at Rozar Park today from 4-7 p.m. Everyone is encour aged to come an bring a favorite dish-hot dogs will be provided. Sunday School Welcome Corps begins this Sunday. Each month an adult Sunday School class will pro vide two greeters to welcome and escort guests and visitors of all ages to a Sunday School class. The Flint River Plant manufactures the absorbent lining for use in disposable diapers. Everyone is asked to prepare and bring basket lunches to share, and to invite a friend or neighbor. An Andrew Bible Experience (also known as Vacation Bible School) is planned for the entire day of June 25 for ages three and up. Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch: drinks will be provided, bible study, crafts, singing, recre ational activities and eating are on the agenda. In exchange, the youth sponsored a "Parent’s Night Out" in April and provided cakes, cookies and muffins to the church members last Sunday morning following the morning worship service. The Phase II Steering Committee continues to work to wards the planning of the church's second building. At this point in the planning, the committee is sending their preliminary drawings to an architect at the southern Baptist Sunday School Board in Nashville, Tenn. He will review the drawings and offer his suggestions for any changes, as well as his pro jections for the cost of the project. The Nominating Committee has begun seeking workers and leaders to fill positions for committees, Sunday School classes and other leadership roles for the new church year. This is a difficult undertaking and the members of the committee are prayerfully seeking God's leader ship as they begin this process. Christian Singles Fellowship A "Lost in the Fifties" Singles Dance will be held June 4 at 8 p.m. at Glenwood Hills UMC, 3357 Rice Mill Rd., Macon. Cost is $5 per person and re freshments will be served. Prizes for best costume will be awarded and drawings for door prizes will be held. Music will be pro vided by D.J.
