ready in your blood, you could give
it someone else; but, you will
never, ever get a blood borne dis
ease, such as AIDS, from giving
blood. The needles are more than
clean, they are new.
Giving blood is a wonderful ex
perience. There is some discomfort;
but, the knowledge that someone
will live more than outweighs the
discomfort in giving blood. I have
always left a donation center feeling
good about what I have done.
Giving blood really is giving the
gift of life to someone. Giving
blood means someone will see an
other sunset, someone will hear a
son or daughter another day, some
one will run and play in a play
ground, someone who is special to
someone else will live.
I know firsthand the importance
of giving blood. My father had four
by-passes put into his heart five
years before he died. The availabil
ity of blood made five more years
of his life possible.
Don't have time to give blood?
Well, ask yourself if you have time
to receive blood.
The next blood drive in Perry
will be held Monday, June 20th, at
Perry Hospital from 12:30 p.m. to
5:30. If you can give, I hope to
meet you there.
Give blood.
