Death notices Jessie Robison Hardy Jessie Robison Hardy, 84, of 1730 Houston Lake Rd., died Friday, July 8, 1994 in the Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus. Bom in Roanoke, Ala., she was the daughter of the late George W. and Lottie Gilbert Robison. She was a retired civil service employee with Robins Air Force Base. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Perry Businesswomen’s Club, the American Legion Auxiliary and the AARP. Mrs. Hardy was a co-founder of the Meals on Wheels program in Perry. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hardy. Survivors: daughter, Alice Jane Street of Perry; sister, Elizabeth Schnitzer of Silver Springs, Maryland; four grandchildren: Paul Harvard of Guyton, Ga., Gil Harvard of Atlanta, Howard Street, Jr. of Perry and Alice St. Jr. (Missy), also of Perry; great-granddaughter, Haley Harvard of Guyton; and several nieces and nephews. Services: Were held Sunday, July 10, 1994 in the Watson-Hunt Chapel at 4 p.m. The Dr. Dan Ariail officiated. Burial took place in the Perry Memorial Gardens. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry had charge of arrangements. Julia Ann Reynolds Julia Ann Reynolds, 90, of 2470 Hwy 41 N, died Thursday, July 7, 1994. Bom in Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Gertrude Thompson Reynolds Sr. She was a member of the Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church. Survivors: daughter, Frances R. Gunter of West Columbia, South Carolina; two brothers, Robert Reynolds of Daytona Beach, Fla. and Elner Holcomb of Charleston, S.C.; niece and nephew, Ina Collier of Charleston, S.C. and Curtis Chapman of West Columbia, S.C.; and several grandnieces and nephews. Services: Were held Sunday, July 10, 1994 in the Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church at 3 p.m. The Revs. Dorris Dameron and Elwood Collier officiated. Burial took place in the church cemetery. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry had charge of arrangements. Helen Carney Byrd KATHLEEN-Helen Carney Byrd, 88, of 300 Hunt Rd., died Monday, July 11, 1994 at a local hospital. Bom in Houston County, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Alice (Parker) Carney. She had resided here all of her life and was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Walter Byrd. Survivors: daughter, Annette B. Coleman of Kathleen; two sisters, Mrs. Clarence Buchanan of Manchester and Mrs. Waler Helms of Macon; and a grandson, Jim Coleman of Kathleen. Services: Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 13, 1994 at 11 a.m. in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The officiating clergy will be Elder George R. Hunt, Sr. and Elder Franklin Bryant. Gubernatorial candidates to take part in July debate Five candidates for Georgia's Republican gubernatorial nomina tion have agreed to participate in a live televised debate on Sunday, July 17, two days before the GOP primary. The debate will be broad cast state-wide on Georgia Public Television. The Georgia Public Policy Foundation is sponsoring the debate and announced that all qualified can didates, Paul Heard, John Knox, Mac McNair, Guy Millner and Leonard Morris have agreed to take part. The Georgia Public Policy Foundation is a non-partisan re search and education organization that provides practical alternatives on state policy issues. The Atlanta Press Club, which is helping organize the debate, has se lected political colum nist/commentator Bill Shipp as ing event," he said. County residents can apply for aid with flood damage All citizens in Houston County with damage need to contact the local Emergency Management Office at 912-542-2026 or 542- 2040 to place names on the damage assessment list, and for the latest updates on road closures. They also need to call FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) at 1-800-462-9029 ID# 1033 DR or TDD (Hearing Impaired) at 1-800- 462-7585 to register the damage on the federal disaster list. The participants raised money through donations by sponsoring a participant for queen. Winner was llean Davis; first runner-up, Annie Bell Harris and second runner-up, Frances Walker. The queen from last year, Annie Maude Brown, crowned the queen. GSP releases July traffic report The Georgia State Patrol in Perry announced that 11 traffic accidents in Houston County were investigated during the month of June. These accidents resulted in two injuries and no deaths. In the area of enforcement by Post 15, Sergeant First Class K. W.
