    Poythress announces DUA benefits for Georgia
State Labor Commissioner
David Poythress said today that
residents of 31 Georgia counties
may qualify for federal Disaster
Unemployment Assistance (DUA),
due to flooding and inclement
weather conditions.
The counties include: Bibb,
Butts, Calhoun, Clayton, Coweta,
Crawford, Dooly, Dougherty,
Early, Fayette, Fulton, Henry,
Houston, Jones, Lamar, Lee,
Macon, Meriwether, Monroe,
Peach, Pike, Randolph, Spalding,
Sumter, Talbot, Taylor, Terrell,
Troup, Twiggs, Upson and
Webster. Additional Georgia

Jesus”. Vacation Bible School will
begin at Crossroads United
Methodist Church, 1600 Main
Street, Perry on Monday, July 18.
“This will be a time to discover
an incredible, creative, wonderful
celebration”, says Gay Chambless,
VBS director. “This party is extra
special, because Jesus is the guest
of honor.”

helpers, music directors, craft
workers and volunteers of every

dvastating I’ve ever seen from a
natural disaster,” said Poythress.
“Not only are thousands of people
losing property they’ve worked
many years for, they’ve also lost
their incomes because their places
of employment are closed, or they
can’t get to work because of flooded
roads. This Disaster
Unemployment Assistance will
help many of them get through this
tough time.”

The Vacation Bible School staff

community who are of the ages 3
through grade six to join them July
18-22 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon
daily.
To kick off the week of activity,
the children’s choir from
Centerville United Methodist
Church will be guests at Crossroads
and present their musical at the 6
p.m. worship service.
Refreshments will be served to the
friends from Centerville and others
who join the church family for the
evening.

program in that it provides benefits
to self-employed business people,
farmers, diversified farming
operations, loggers, commission
paid employees and others who are
not eligible for Georgia’s regular
unemployment insurance benefits.
The maximum weekly benefit
amount is $195.
Workers in these 31 counties
who are potentially eligible should
file claims at the nearest Georgia
On Friday evening, July 22, a
musical program will be presented
by the children who have taken part
in VBS. Meet your friends and
family at Crossroads at 7:30 p.m.
for the program and afterwards for
refreshments.

August 10th. They will need a
social security number. Self
employed applicants should be able
to provide information on their
previous year’s earnings.
