Plan seeks to make abortion basic right If someone forced you to pay for the production and distribution of child pornography, wouldn’t you be upset? They may tell you that it doesn’t matter if you think child pornography is wrong and immoral -you have to pay for it anyway. That would be an outrage! President Clinton’s health plan which seeks to make abortion rights a part of basic universal coverage is no less an outrage. Those of us who see abortion as an immoral act would be forced to participate in the violent act which ends a life every time it is performed. Would our government purposefully disregard the religious beliefs of millions of Americans Ministry will teach proper dieting and weight loss Rehoboth Baptist Church is be ginning a new ministry called "First Pl&ce" which seeks to teach people proper dieting and to encour age them in weight loss. Given the track record of our President, I think the answer is clear. The debate of including abortion as a part of the universal coverage of health care is a definite example of why Christians ought to be feverishly involved in politics. For us, conservative Christians to sit by quietly and allow this greatest sin against children to take place is tantamount to committing the act ourselves. Our President is on record as believing abortions should be “safe, but legal and rare.” What our A CHRIST CENTERED HEALTH PROGRAM will be discussed, and people will healthy living, have an opportunity to ask ques- For further information, contact tions and view materials that will Cynthia Waters at 988-1472. be used. And it certainly doesn’t guarantee that they are safe. What if Jesus lived in Perry, Ga.? Do you think he would sit idly by and watch a Congress pass a health reform bill that makes abortion a basic right? Could you imagine Jesus Christ quoting the scriptures on one occasion and then on another occasion stating that he thought the violent death of an unborn child ought to be safe, legal, and rare? I don’t think so, and I believe our congressmen ought to hear from us. r «>.
