But what exactly is ginseng and what can it do for us? Ginseng is an aromatic herb with a fleshy white root. It is this root that accounts for Ginseng’s curative properties. In China and Korea the word Ginseng is preceded by the Greek work “panax” meaning “all healing”. For several thousand years the Chinese and Koreans have been steaming and boiling Ginseng roots to obtain whatever therapeutic value they might possess. Modem research tells us their valves are attributed to substances called saponins or Ginsenosides. When purchasing a ginseng product you can compare the percentage of active ginsenocide contained in many of the medicinal claims of Ginseng as a cure-all are the result of its adaptogenic effect. Adaptogens are medicines which increase all around resistance and strengthen the entire body. To be classified as an adaptogen, a substence must meet the following requirements: •It should be non-toxic, creating a minimal amount of disorder in the physio logical functions of the organism. •Its action must be non-specific, it could increase resistance to a wide variety of influences-physical, chemical and biological in nature. •It should possess a normalizing action irrespective of the direction of the foregoing pathological changes. This workshop is sponsored by the Georgia Clogging Leaders Association. Any and all doggers are invited to participate in this workshop. Required for participation in the workshop is a donation to help Georgia’s flood victims. Donations can be in the form of canned goods, baby formula, diapers, money, etc. Do you want to learn new routines? Do you want to meet new clogging buddies? Do you need new shoes, slips or other clogging supplies? Do you want to help Georgia’s flood victims? Thousands of doggers and spectators can fit comfortably in the spacious Heritage Hall which is conveniently located off 1-75. Instructors for the event are GCLA members who teach at workshops throughout the year, throughout the state. The workshop classes will last until 5 p.m.. and following a two hour supper break, exhibitions will begtin at 7 p.m., featuring clogging teams from all over Georgia. Any and all doggers are invited to this workshop - you don’t have to be a member of GSLA to participate. Just bring a donation and your enthusiasm and come on out to the Agricenter in Perry for what promises to be a day filled with great things.
