Fairgrounds precinct. Ragin earned 363 of a possible 462 votes.
Carter’s biggest margin of victory came at that same precinct. He cap
tured 134 of 173 voles.
A number of other races were also decided locally by Houston County
voters.
In the Democratic race for Public Service Commissioner, Earleen
Sizemore easily outdistanced John Franklin Barnes 4,326 to 2,127.
Sizemore prevailed at all 24 poll sites.
Craig Mathis eased past Tyron Spearman in the race for the Bth
Congressional Seat by a 2,943-1,052 vote. Mathis held the upper hand at
all precincts.
On the Republican side, John Knox’s late-campaign blitz here also
proved to be beneficial when he beat out Guy Millner 1,621-962. Knox
collected favorable marks at 23 of 24 ballot locations.
David Baker won the bid for the Public Service Commission. Baker
collected 1,561 strikes to Cora Frantz’s 790 marks.
