The initial start-up of both programs is with the help of the Title 111 Grant the college received. During the second year of the five year grant, MGC was slated to begin programs in the allied health field. In the spring of this year, MGC hired program coordinators for the new career-track programs. Heather Copan will head the occupational therapy assistant (OTA) program, and Mary Nilssen will direct the health information management (HIM) program. Ms. Copan and Ms. Nilssen have spent the past several months planning and organizing the event. Students interested in pursuing either program should first apply for admission to MGC. Each program has its own admissions process that prospective students will then follow to be considered for admission into the program. Both the OTA and the HIM programs have approximately 55-60 credit hours of core courses a student will take. Just because a student completes core courses in one of the programs docs not guarantee admission into the program.
