■ Wednesday. August 31,1994, Houston Times-Journal Page 2A Death notices Dora Braswell HAYNEVILLE-Dora Braswell of Route 1, Box 83, died Tuesday, August 23, 1994 in a local hospital. She was the daughter of the late John R. and Mary Frances Sheridan. She attended schools in Houston County and was a member of Hayneville Baptist Church, where she was a member of the usher board. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors: son, Willie Braswell Sr. of Riverdale; sister, Deotha Humphrey of Baltimore; and three grandchildren. Services: Were held Saturday, August 27, 1994 in the Hayneville Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Burial took place in the church cemetery. The Rev. Harold Ross officiated. Richardson Funeral Home in Perry had charge of arrangements. Morris L. Bridges Morris L. Bridges, 85, of Georgia 96, died Wednesday, August 24, 1994 in a Montezuma hospital. Bom in Schley County, he was the son of the late Oscar and Bessie Cromer Bridges and had lived in Perry the past 46 years. He was a retired construction superintendent and bridge builder. He had operated the Perry Truck Stop for 10 years and was a retired employee of the City of Perry Street Department. He also operated Bridges Fruit Stand for a number of years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Houston Lodge No. 35, F&AM, the A 1 Sihah Shrine Temple in Macon and the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors: wife, Irva Montgomery Bridges of Perry; daughter, Joyce B. Jones of Perry; brother and sisters, Felton Bridges of Lakeland, Fla., Ldean Venable of Columbia, S.C., and Estelle Hill of Junction City; and two grandchildren. Services: Were held Friday, August 26, 1994 in the Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry at 2 p.m. Burial took place with Masonic rites in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Dr. Dan Ariail and Tom Arledge officiated. Betty Walker Dennard FITZGERALD-Betty Walker Dennard, 59, of Fitzgerald, died Wednesday, August 24, 1994 in an Albany Hospital. Bom in Tift County, she had lived in Fitzgerald the past 15 years and was a 1953 graduate of Rochelle High School. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Hattie Mae Stewart Walker. She was a member of Church of the Nazarene in Fitzgerald, the Rebckahs and a Sunday School class at the church. She was a community worker for the Ben Hill Department of Family and Children’s Services, retiring after 17 years of service. Survivors: children, Robert Dennard of Kennar, La., and Angela Dennard of Leesville, I .a.; brothers and sisters, Grady Walker and Neva Tedders, both of Albany, Mitchell Walker of Knoxville, Tenn., Jack Walker of Rochelle, Annette Kennedy of Atlanta, Christine Hardy of perry, and Bernice Blackstock of Fitzgerald; and a grandchild. Services: Were held Friday, August 26, 1994 in the Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald at 11 a.m. Burial took place in the Salem Cemetery in Ben Hill County. The Rev. Steve Hood officiated. Paulk Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. Roger Clayton Sullivan Roger Clayton Sullivan, 82, of 820 Glenwood Drive, died Thursday, August 25, 1994 in a Decatur hospital. Bom in Glen Alum, W. Va„ he was the son of the late Navillus and Bertha Elmore Sullivan and had lived in Perry the past 22 years. He was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired, self-employed building contractor. He was a member of Calvary Church in Perry. Survivors: wife, Danease Flowers Sullivan of Perry; daughter, Cathy Bramlett of Perry; sister, Ruth Sheffield of Lynchburg, Va.; and a grandchild. Kiwanis announce new meeting time Beginning with the first meeting in October, Tuesday, Oct. 4, the Perry Kiwanis Club will meet at 12 o’clock noon, club president Earl Cheek has announced. All members should take note of the earlier meeting time. Tomlinson, 72, of 1300 Main St., died Wednesday, August 24, 1994 in a local hospital. Bom in Colquitf County, he was the son of the late Samuel and Effie Alligood Tomlinson and had lived in Perry the past 42 years. He was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a senior aircraft technician retiring from Robins Air Force Base after 29 years of civil service. He was also a former employee of the Sports Center in Perry. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Barnabas Sunday School Class and was a deacon. He was a member of Houston Lodge No. 35, F&AM and was an American Red Cross volunteer. Survivors: wife, Minnie Lee Stanford Tomlinson of Perry; children, Barbara Sue vanßees of Charlotte, N.C., and Robert D. Tomlinson of Cartersville; sister, Jewell King of Albany; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services: Were held Saturday, August 27, 1994 in the First Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Burial took place in the Perry Memorial Gardens. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. George Thompson Sr. JEFFERSONVILLE-George “Mauk” Thompson Sr., 96, of Route 1 died Tuesday, August 23, 1994 at his residence. A lifelong resident of Twiggs County, he was the son of the late John and Hattie Thompson. He was a retired fanner and was a Methodist. Survivors: wife, Mabel Sauls Thompson of Jeffersonville; children, Evelyn Land, Johnny Thompson and Carolyn Allen, all of Macon, Betty Cherry of Dublin, Peggy Holladay of Kathleen, George Thompson Jr., Billy Thompson and Larry Joe Thompson, all of Jeffersonville; 21 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Services: Were held Friday, August 26. 1994 in the Prospect United Methodist Church at 3 p.m. in Twiggs County. Burial took place in the church cemetery. The Rev. Richard Jones officiated.
