Page 2A ■ Wednesday, September 21,1994, Houston Times-Journal Death notices Mildred Sullivan Kersey BYRON-Mildred Sullivan Kersey, 76, of Byron, died Tuesday, September 13, 1994 in a hospital in Macon. Bom in Peach County, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Bessie Yaughn Sullivan Sr. She was a homemaker and was married to Francis H. Kersey. She had lived in Byron most of her life and was a member of the Byron United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Aultman-Hammock SS Class. Survivors: husband, Francis H. Kersey of Bryon; daughter, Gayle Kersey Borah of Perry; grandson, Brandon K. Borah of Perry; and three sisters, Dorothy Sullivan, Beatrice Williams and Mable Allred, all of Byron. Services: Were held Thursday, Sept. 15, 1994 in the Byron United Methodist Church at 3 p.m. The Rev. Harvey Sullins officiated. Burial took place in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Fort Valley. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry had charge of arrangements. Dessie Swaney Loudermilk Dessie Swaney Loudermilk, 81, of 622 Pine Ridge Drive, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 1994 in a local hospital. Bom in Fairmount, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Joel D. and Marietta Bramlett Swaney. She was a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Church and the Gleaners Club. She is preceeded in death by her husband, Charles Loudermilk. Survivors: son, Bill Loudermilk of Perry; three grandchildren, Jason Loudermilk, Sherri Loudermilk and David Loudermilk, all of Perry. Services: Were held Saturday, Sept 17, 1994 in the Calvary Church at 10 a.m. The officiating clergies were Dr. John O. Yarbrough and Issac Davis. Burial took place in the Hazelcreek Baptist Church Cemetery in Clarksville, Ga. The family may be contacted at the residence of Bill Loudermilk, 113 Felton Rd., Perry, Ga. 31069. Zachery Lee Swinney CARTHAGE, MS-Zachery Lee Swinney, the infant son of Bennie “Bo” Ray and Susan Duffell Swinney, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 1994 in a local hospital. Bom in Houston County, he was preceeded in death by his paternal grandfather, W. C. Swinney. Survivors: parents, Bo and Susan Swinney of Carthage, Ms.; maternal grandparents, David and Sandra Duffell of Perry; paternal grandmother , Lucille Swinney of Carthage, Ms.; maternal great-grandfather, Jack Duffell of Perry; maternal great-grandparents, Joseph and Patricia Pettis of Warner Robins; paternal great-grandparents, Troy and Ola Belle Newsom of Carthage, Ms.; and several aunts and uncles. Services: Graveside services were held Sunday, Sept. 18, 1994 at 2 p.m. The Rev. A. C. Truluck officiated. Burial took place in the Hayneville Baptist Church Cemetery. District president visits Perry Lions The Perry Lions Club was recently visited by the District 18E Zone Chairman, John Dennis of the Centerville Liens Club. Dennis spoke to the club in reference to the district’s efforts to have each of the Middle Georgia Lion’s Clubs represented and to participate in the upcoming Georgia National Fair annual parade. The event is scheduled for Oct. Bth of this year. Dennis stated that the Lions Club members are eager to participate in the parade and will be well represented by clubs from throughout the area. The high point of the evening Girl Scouts sought The Girl Scouts of Perry are organizing for another year of Girl Scouting. Last year many girls were able to enjoy the Girl Scouting experience. However, numerous girls were unable to participate due to a lack of adult leadership. We invite any person, 18 years or older, who has an interest in bringing Girl Scouting to the girls of Perry and who work well with girls to call J. Denise McCrary at 1-800-868-4475. Once contacted we will send to you a description of the qualifications and responsibilities of being either a leader or assistant troop leader, along with an application to be returned to us. Violence session set The Houston Family Violence Preevention Council is hosting a training session on domestic violence. The class will be held at the Wellston Center (formerly the Senior Citizens Center) on Friday, Sept. 30th, from 10 a..m. to 12 'noon. Guest speakers will include State Senator Sonny Perdue, Judge Kelly Burke, and Houston County District Attorney Ed Lukemire. The class is free and open to anyone who is interested. Applicants for either Youth Exchange Program must be high school students between the ages of 15 and 18. Students should be in the upper third of their class, well rounded, and interested in making new friends. The families of suc cessful applicants must be finan cially capable of providing airfare and spending money for students selected for the program. Limited financial assistance is available for students who possess exceptional qualifications and demonstrate a need for assistance. The summer 1995 exchanges will be conducted with the countries of Spain, Finland, Japan, Scotland, and France. The summer visits are four-to-five weeks long from mid- June to mid-July. At the end of of die visit, the student normally re turns home with his/her new ex change brother or sister. Which stu dent visits first depends on the countries involved. Full academic year exchanges for 1995-1996 may be arranged with almost any of the 150 countries which have Rotary Clubs. Students having a particular destination country in mind should inquire about the possibility of conducting an exchange with that country. Students participating in the full academic year program do not re ceive credit for courses taken in the host country and should have two years of either French or Spanish. Parents are responsible for round trip air fare, health insurance, pass port and visa. Parents of outbound students must be willing to open their homes to inbound students. Applications for either the sum mer or academic year Rotary International Youth Exchange Program are available from the guidance offices at Westfield and Perry High Schools or from Bipin Vashi, International Service Director of the Perry Rotary Club, who may be reached at 987-7710.
