By PAULINE LEWIS
Society Editor
The Houston Times-Journal's
Cook of the Week is Sharon
Brown. She is a native of New
York State and a graduate of John
son City High School in that state.
After graduation, she moved to Cal
ifornia where she lived for 20 years,
and majored in Business and Child
Development at Riverside Commu
nity College.
She worked at Northrop for live
years and at American Honda, in
purchasing and inventory, prior to
moving to Perry in August 1993,
with her husband, Mark Brown, a
Northrop employee, and their two
children, Koren, a 12-year-old 6th
grader, and Ryan, an almost-10-
year-old 4th grader.
The family attends St. Patrick's
Catholic Church in Perry. They
have A pet cockatiel, Sugar Noodle,
and three cats - Nike, Tiger and
Stinky.
Sharon Brown's hobbies include
work in the Perry Pilot Club,
working two days each week in
Loaves and Fishes and helping in
school classrooms. Mark's hobbies
include water-skiing, participating
in the children's sports, serving as
assistant softball coach in softball
at Ochlahatchee and now attending
their soccer games.
Sharon says that she learned to
cook by helping her mom in the
kitchen and watching the older
women in her mother’s family as
they prepared tasty dishes.
The following are some of her
favorite recipes for easy-to-make

your families will enjoy.
