Registration for ALL classes will be held at W. 0. Smitha Middle School - 2025 Powder Springs Road - Marietta, 6A
30064 on dates indicated above and at Bryant Elementary School - 6800 Factory Shoals Road, Mableton, GA 30059
on Thursday, January 19 - 4PM-BPM. Registration after these dates accepted only if class has made and is not
filled. Classes will begin the week of January 30 unless otherwise stated. If you have any questions, please call 522:

DIRECTIONS TO SMITHA: QJ Drive North on East/West Connector until it dead-ends. Turn right and drive approx.
1 mile East on Powder Springs Rd. (2J From Marietta, drive Powder Spnngs Rd. West School is approx 1 mile West
of new Publix Food store &J From Powder Springs, drive East toward Marietta. School is approx. 1 mile past
EasfWest Connector.
DIRECTIONS TO BRYANT: Drive South from Bankhead Hwy. (Hwy. 278) on Mableton Parkway. Turn right on Factory
Shoals Road Bryant is approximately one to two miles on your right. You do not see the school from the road, only
the entrance.

COMPUTER/BUSINESS CLASSES AT SMITHA MIDDLE SCHOOL

necessary for all computer classes. Before enrollment into Word Perfect or other
software packages, student must have had instruction in “INTRODUCTION TO
PC/MS DOS”, COMPUTER USER SEMINAR, or equivalent experience. The course

course! It is for the absolute beginner. Excellent to take before DOS or Introduction to
Computers, spreadsheets or word processing, covers computer basics, uses in offices and
business, and what training you need to meet your goals
41. INTRODUCTION TO PC/MS-DOS - TUES/THURS (FEB. 749) - 6:30-10PM - $77.00 - Learn the
most used and basic functions of DOS Covers basics of PC/MS-OOS for general business use
File names/extensions, disk formatting, copy command, path names, directory commands and
other basic DOS commands taught.

course for persons who do not speak “Computerese" Basic factors to look for in a computer,
basic terminology covered, and tips on how much computer do you need for the home
Multimedia components such as CD-ROM drives discussed (This course will aid the non
technical person spec out a computer to best meet their needs.) Don't pay more than you need
for your computer!
45 INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTERS FOR THE ABSOLUTE BEGINNER - SAT - (FEB 4) - 9AM-SPM
- $77.00 - Excellent for persons with littie or no computer experience, who want to get a good
foundation in the basics Excellent pre-DOS course Basic terminology, keyboard functions,
types ot disks used, and other essential knowledge for the entry level person. (This is a hands
on course).
46. WORDPERFECT 5.1 FOR BEGINNERS • TUES/THURS - (FEB. 14 416) - S:3OPM-10PM - Learn
the most popular word processing program used in business today! A must for secretaries
upgrading skills or seeking employment Some knowledge of DOS or computer intro course
required Word Perfect 51 is still the most used word processing package and is an excellent
choice before moving on to the new upgrade Word Perfect 60 for DOS. (not recommended for
secretaries experienced in another word processing package looking to swap/change over to
Word Perfect).

basic functions of the package Neither course is designed for persons trained in word

fundamental skills in basics of worksheet layout, keyboard control keys, cursor movement, menu
selection, range names, basic formulas, and filing. Minimal knowledge of DOS or introduction
to computers course required.

fundamentals covered in beginning course. Editing, copying, formatting, and iabei/value entries
covered NOTE: THIS COURSE IS FOR PERSONS WHO HAVE TAKEN OUR LOTUS BEGINNING
COURSE, It is not for persons who may have some proficiency in Lotus, but would like to learn
selected advanced skills.
BACKPACKING BASICS FOR BEGINNERS
What equipment do I buy? Where is it available? How do I pack my backpack properly? Where are the
good trails? Course designed for beginners wanting to get into the exciting sport of backpacking.
Instructor Paul Osterholt will share his expertise to make your first trip preparation easier and more
exciting!
