The Community Candlelight Service is one of the highlights of the
annual Christmas festival. Children and adults gather to share this
special program.
Candlelight service is a 'highlight*
of the annual Christmas festival
The Community Candlelight Service
will be held Sunday, Dec. 4 on the
Courthouse Square in Perry from 7-8
p.m.
The streets will he lit by
approximate!) 3.(MX) candles.
Congregations from the nearby
churches will wind their way to the
courthouse square, holding individual
candles and singing Christmas carols.
The Rev AC. Truluck. pastor of
Houston Lake Baptist Church and
President of the Perry Ministerial
Association, will pieside over the
service
Mayor Jim Worrall will bring
greetings from the City of Perry.
The Rev Jim Shipley, pastor of
Perry Presbyterian Church, will
deliver the Christmas message.
The Houston County Honor Choir,
composed of 150 fourth and fifth
grade young people from across the
county, will sing selections from
Handeil's "Messiah" for young
Community churches schedule
programs to celebrate the holiday
Community churches have planned
special events which coincide with the
Christmas at the Crossroads Festival.
A community-wide event and a
mainstay of the annual festival is the
Community Candlelight Service. This
year’s service will be held on the
Courthouse Square Sunday, Dec. 4
from 7-8 p.m.
Of course, Christmas Day, Sunday,
Dec. 25, will he a time of special
worship this year. Other events being
held by individual churches are:
•Henderson Baptist will host a
Senior Adults party Saturday, Dec.

At the end of the service, ministers
in the group will light their candles
and go among those gathered,
passing their lights to others until all
candles are lit.
The community gathering will he led
in singing some Christmas carols and
will he dismissed with prayer.
The public is asked to bring a
canned food donation for P A L. and
Loaves and Fishes.
The Rev. Glen Clower, pastor of
Victory Christian Fellowship, is
responsible for program
arrangements; Larry Wood. Minister
of Music at First Baptist Church, is
responsible for the musical portion of
the program.
The Perry Area Historical Society,
with the help of Perry firefighters.
Perry police, city employees and Boy
Scout Troop 96 will light the streets
for this occasion with 3,( MX) candles.
•Perry Presbyterian Church will
present "Season for Alleluias" with
harp and cello accompaniment at 6:30
p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11.
•A children's musical "It's the
Truth, Ruth" will he held in the fel
lowship hall of Perry United
Methodist Church at 7 p.m. Sunday,
Dec. 11.
•A men and women's ensemble will
perform a Christmas musical at

•The sanctuary choir and orchestra
of Perry United,Methodist, Church.
