Edenfield. At a Legislative Appreciation Brunch held Wednesday, Dec. 7, Edenfield stated that two companies were being considered for construction of the facility. The first set of bids received for the project, for which the school has a $12.5 million budget, were all too high, according to Edenfield, who continued by saying, "The lowest bid was 19 percent over our budget." After removing some of the "frills" from the original design, bids were let once again, with Williams and Associaties of Macon submitting the low bid, $11,849,000. If the company accepts the project, the facility will have a May 1996 completion date. "That will give us time to move in over the summer and open Fall 1996 classes at the new school," Edenfield said. An Augusta firm will be the second choice. Their bid was for $12,450,000 and set a completion date for October 1996.
