The Bible for today
He preached up a storm! I have
heard that saying many times. I
suppose the remark has to do with
someone who preaches excitedly,
emotionally, sincerely, or a
combination of all three. Seems that
people take more heed to hear this
kind of preaching, it may have been
said of our preaching by some.
Well, I don't know that I have ever
preached up a storm, but during the
week of September 23, 1985, I
preached in a storm.
I was in Jacksonville, North
Carolina that week preaching revival
messages when hurricane Gloria went
through there. It was quite an
experience. I observed several tilings
during that week that 1 waiuld like to
put into spiritual application.
First, there were days of advance
warning about die storm.
Secondly, some people took the
warning seriously and made
preparation. I saw windows in
homes and businesses boarded up.
Mobile homes, awnlings and many
insecure items in the outdoors were
secured or moved to more secure
places. People took shelter in more
secure places. The church building
where we were preaching was used to
shelter people.
Thirdly, there were those people
who disregarded the w;irnings and
chose to stay home and take their
chances. In
Strauther Harris, a 20 year family tradition
for quality jewelry at honest prices is...

summary,' warning was given of die
storm coming; it came, some
prepared, and some did not.
Our Bible teaches us that there is
a tremendous, destructive, devastating
storm coming on this whole earth.
Every person living will be affected
by it. Daniel 12:1, "...and there
shall be a time of trouble, such as
never was since there was. a nation
even at that same time; and at that
time thy people shall be delivered,
(diose who were prepared), every one
that shall be found written in the
book." 2 Timothy 3:1, "This know
also, that in the last days perilous
times shall come." St. Matthew
24:7-8, 21, 24 "For nation shall rise
against nation, and kingdom against
kingdom; and there shall be families,
and pestilences (diseases), and
earthquakes, in divers places. All
these are the beginning of sorrows.
For there shall be great tribulation
such as was not since the beginning
of the world to this time, no, never
shall be. For there shall arise false
Christs, and false prophets, and shall
