Last-Minute Donations Boost PAL A last-minute flood of donations made the annual Project Agape Love (PAL) Christmas drive a big success. Headed by a donation of S6OO worth of toys and S2OO in cash to buy food from radio station QlO6, PAL was able to serve approximately 500 families, according to Barbara Stanley and Kaye Jackson, PAL team members. The last-minute contributions made it possible for PAL to have toys and food boxes for 1,226 individuals, including 520 children, the team members said. The toys and food boxes were picked up Saturday. "We received donations from individuals and businesses in Perry. Thomaston, Macon, Hawkinsville, Bonaire ... all over Middle Georgia," Jackson said. "We really appreciate the out-pouring of gifts and money that made our efforts this year such a big success." Investment workshop set Jan. 5 The Edward D. Jones & Co. invesunent office in Perry will host a live satellite broadcast for investors Jan. 5. Jo Crumpacker, investment representative, said the program will take a look back at investment markets in 1994 and preview what the experts expect in 1995. Jones & Co. research analysts will be featured on the program, along with Donald G. Soderquist, chief operating officer for Wal- Mart, who will review the company's future plans. H. Bradlee Perry, senior partner of David L. Babson & Co. and author of the widely read Babson Staff Letter, will also be on the broadcast. "This is a 'must-see' program for any investor, especially Wal-Mart shareholders who will be making financial decisions in 1995," Crumpacker said. "Viewers will have the opportunity to ask questions live on the ;iir." The program will originate live from Wal-Mart headquarters in Arkansas and from Jones headquarters in St. Louis. Perry woman gets BS degree Kathryn Lynn Smith of Perry received her bachelor of science degree in criminal justice during recent graduation ceremonies at West Georgia College in Carrollton. Smith was one of 139 graduate recipients and 119 baccalaureate recipients honored during the ceremonies Dec. 11. Roy Richards Jr., chairman and CEO of Southwire Co., delivered the commencement address.
