Robert Nathan Jernigan
MARTINEZ, GA - Robert
Nathan Jernigan 75, of 214
Hillbrook Drive, Martinez, GA.
died Saturday, December 17 at
Augusta Regional Medical Center
in Augusta. A native of
Chattanooga, Tennessee, he had
resided here 4 years moving from
Orlando, Florida. He was a retired
building contractor and owner of
Oak Crest Mobile Home Park in
Orlando, Fla. He was a WWII
veteran and a member of the
Christ's Sanctified Holy Church.
Survivors: wife, Carolyn Forbes
Jernigan of Martinez; daughter,
Sharon Thomas of Orlando, Fla.;
son, Bobby Jernigan of Martinez,
Ga; sister, Eula Downs of Perry,
GA; brother, Lawrence A. Jernigan
of Spartanburg, SC and seven
grandchildren
Services: Were held Tuesday,
December 20 at Christ's Sanctified
Holy Church with burial in the
Christ's Sanctified Holy Church
Cemetery in Perry, Rev. Leon
Stewart officiated. Watson-Hunt
Funeral Home had charge of
arrangements.
Flora Austin Helm
PERRY - Flora Austin Helm,
93, of 1202 Fairway Drive, Perry,
died Dec. 22 at Flint River
Community Hospital in
Montezuma. Mrs. Helm, a native
of Oklahoma had resided in Perry
for the past 28 years. She had been

Howard has reappointed state
Senator Sonny Perdue of Bonaire to
the Appropriations Committee for
the 1995-% term of the General
Assembly.
Perdue w;ls also reappointed to
the Economic Development,
Tourism and Cultural Affairs
Committee and the Finance and
Public Utilities Committee. He
will also serve on the prestigious
Rules and Ethics Committees as
well as the Reapportionment
Committee.
As a member of the
Appropriations Committee, Senator
Perdue will play a vital role in the
setting spending priorities and
determining how Georgia's budget
of nearly sll billion will be spent.
As a member of the Economic
Development, Tourism and
Cultural Affairs Committee, he
will review and recommend
legislation aimed at stimulating
Georgia's economic growth and
expanding industry and jobs.
The Ethics Committee ensures
compliance on the part of Senators
and Senate start with the body's
strict code of conduct. It has the
authority to investigate ethics
complaints against Senators and to
issue advisory opinions on ethics
issues.
The Rules Committee sets the
rules and procedures under ;which
the Senate operates. It also
determines which of the
approximately 2.0(H) bills and
resolutions introduced each year
will appear on the Senate calendar
for debate during the final 21 days
of the session.

grandchildren and one great-great
grandchild.

December 24 in the Fairview
Cemetery located at Wrightsville,
PA. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home

Urma Utsey Bass
SEABROOK, TX - Urma Utsey
Bass, 86, of 1856 Capri Lane,
Seabrook, TX, died December 23 in
Seabrook, TX. Mrs. Bass, a native
of South Carolina had resided in
Texas for 4 years moving from
Perry, GA. She was a Methodist,
and a retired school teacher. Sur
vivors: one daughter, Sarah Neal
of Perry, son, George Powers of
Seabrook, TX, brother, Alfred
Utsey Goose Creek, SC: three step
daughters, Beth Rice and Patricia
Riner both from Milledgeville;
Margarette Taylor of Macon; one
step-son, Wesley Bass of
Milledgeville; 10 grandchildren and
14 great-grandchildren.
Services: Were held Tuesday,
December 27 in the Perry Memorial
Gardens, Perry. Rev. Randy Reese
officiated. Watson-Hunt had charge
of arrangements.
