Evans becomes bride
of Lt. Lilley on Dec. 17
The First Presbyterian Church in
Gastonia, NC, was the setting for
the candlelight military wedding
ceremony uniting Allison Brooks
Evans, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Gary W. Evans, of Gastonia and
Lieutenant Aaron Benjamin Lilley,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Liliey
of Perry.
Miss Evans is the granddaughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Evans of
Harpers Ferry, WV and the late Mr.
and Mrs. Raymond Myzie of
Plainfield, NJ and Mrs. William
Theis of Middlebury, VT and the
late Mr. Theis.
Lieutenant Lilley if the grandson
of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Earls of
Ocala, FL and the late Mrs. Russeil
Glass of Perry, GA and the late Mr,
Paul Lilley.
The military wedding ceremony
took place on Saturday evening,
December 17, 1994, with Dr. Jim
Stuart officiating.
The bride wore her mother's
wedding dress of candlelight silk
poi de soire. Her veil was that of
the groom’s mother. She also
carried a handkerchief with lace trim
hand made by the groom's mother.
She carried a bouquet of roses,
miniature mums, and mixed
Christmas greenery. Her going
away outfit was a blouse with
wreath decorations and a skirt made
of the family tartan.
The church was decorated in
poinsettias and on the communion
table was a large white poinsettia in
honor the bride and groom's
grandparents. Music for the
ceremony consisted of Canon in D
by Pachelbel, Trumpet Voluntary
by Clarke, Trumpet Tune by
Purcell, Bridal Chorus by Wagner,
Allegro Maestoso, Water Music by
Handel.
The traditional military saber
arch was performed during the
recessional.
Miss Alicia Wilson, of
Gastonia. NC was maid of honor.
Bridal attendants were Miss Teresa
Brunsvold of Thompson, lA, Miss
Ann Call, of Tucker. GA, Miss
Jacqueline Cotter, of Newton, lA,
Miss Lainey Forde of Gastonia,
NC.
Best man was Lieutenant Ken
Gilliam of Arabia, GA
Groomsmen were Lieutenant
Andrew Clough of Rockland, ME;
Lieutenant Neil Davis of Santa
Ana, CA: Mr. Garret Evans of
Gastonia, NC and Mr. Michael
Potts of Perry, C»A.
Saber Bearers were Lieutenant

Evans and Miss Carrie Evans of

Following the wedding
ceremony, the reception was held at
die Schiele Museum in Gastonia.
The museum was decorated with a
winter wonderland scene in the food
room. Mr. and Mrs. Rick Peak
greeted the guests as they arrived.
Mrs. Jane Boyd-Hamilton of
Warner Robins, GA poured the
punch. The cake was cut by Mrs.
Martha Bumgardner, Mrs. Dana
Crunkleton, and Miss Patty
Bancroft all of Gastonia. NC. The
guest book was kept by Miss Dena
Deßoni and Mrs. Kathy Deßoni of
Morgantown, WV
Following a ivedding trip to
Charleston, SC the couple will
make their home in Fort Lewis,
Washington where Lieutenant
Lilley is a commissioned officer in
the United States Army.
During their engagement, the
bride and groom were honored
guests on numerous occasions. A
cookout in Perry, GA on August

17, a wedding breakfast was held at
the home of Mrs. Neii Patrick in
Gastonia. Mrs. Patrick, Mr. and
Mrs. Butch Blanchard, and Mr. and
Mrs. Tom Avery were hosts.
The Bridesmaid's Luncheon was
given by Mrs. Janie Peak at her
home in Gastonia on December 17.
Special guests at the luncheon were

Perry United Methodist
On New Year’s Day, we will
have a regular Sunday morning
schedule, with worship at 9 a.m.
and 11 a.m„ and Sunday School at
10 a.m. There will be no evening
worship service.
Perry First Baptist
New Year’s Day will be a regu
lar day of worship and Bible Study
at First Baptist. Be sure to start the
New Year off right with worship.
