Word is getting around about fair
"Word is definitely spreading
about the Georgia National
Fairgrounds & Agricenter." The
following review of 1994 and look
to the future supports this claim.
Our year-round attendance for
1994 was 649,068 compared to
555,028 in 1993, a 17 percent
increase.
The vast majority of our 1994
events continued to be return
engagements which speak highly
for the Agricenter. Once people
visit, they will return. Our booking
sheets confirm this belief.
In 1994 we hosted 191 different
events, including the Fair,
accounting for 350 event days,
compared to 119 events and 255
event days for 1993. Our
cumulative attendance, since
opening in June 1990, has grown
to 2,543,284. People competing
and participating in events at the
Agricenter represent all of Georgia's
159 counties and 49 of the United
States. In addition, we have had
visitors from 34 countries (that we
are aware of), the most recent from
Pakistan.
The 1994 Georgia National Fair
speaks for itself; it was the most
successful Fair to date.
Participation, activities, entries,
revenues and attendance were up.
The British Broadcasting Company
filmed a documentary here, "Fair
Bear" was introduced and the Fair's
Fine Arts Program was selected to
participate in the 1994 Statewide
Cultural Celebration GEORGIA:

by the Georgia Council for the Arts
and the Atlanta Committee for the

I cannot emphasize enough the
strong impact the Agricenter is
having on our state. We see it
daily. The Agricenter is "an
economic generator" which
undoubtedly helps us all. Economic
impact from our opening in June
1990 to date has been estimated to
be between SBB million dollars and
$l9O million dollars.
In early 1994 our new 7,500
square foot Roquemore Conference
Center was completed. The seven
breakout rooms in this building
have made our large exhibit
buildings even more marketable and
have added a new dimension to our
ability to retain and attract events.
Response to this building has been
tremendous.
This year we will be celebrating
the 6th Georgia National Fair. In
1996 the eyes of the world will be
on Georgia due to the Olympics. In
1995 I want the eyes of the world
to be on the Georgia National Fair.
Plans are underway for another great
Fair> The them of the Fair this
year is "A Golden Opportunity".
Agricenter highlights for 1995
will include: the filing of the movie
"The Kings of Carolina"" starring
Julia Roberts, Robert Duvall, Gena
Rowlands, Kyra Sedgwick and
Dennis Quaid (January); Georgia
Young Farmers Convention
(January); Tractor Pull (February); a
bigger and better Georgia National
Stock and Rodeo with four new
horse shows (Febru;iry/M;irch); an
expanded Peach Blossom Cluster
Dog Show (April); Good Stun RV
Rally (April); National Rottweiler

(September). The above is only a
sampling of the many new and
expanded events scheduled for 1995.
Individuals, organizations and
businesses are recognizing the
potential and advantages of holding
their events at the Agricenter. In
1994 we saw an increase in the
number of company picnics,
banquets, and parties. We expect
these events to continue to increase
in 1995. Also, the Agricenter is
becoming an increasingly popular
site for RV rallies due to its modem
facilities, land area and location.
Still further ahead, in 1996 we
have already booked several "new"
agricultural events such as the
Southeast Jr. Polled Hereford Show
(June). The Family Motor Coach
Association will hold their Winter
RV Rally at the Agricenter in April
1996. This event will attract
between 3,000 to 5,000 motor
homes to our facility.
Word is truly spreading about
the Agricenter, not only throughout
the state, but the nation and the
world. This is something all
Georgians can be proud of. Yes,
1994 was a great year. We expect
1995 and subsequent years to be
even better.
Each of us at the Georgia
National Fairgrounds & Agricenter
wishes you a "Happy New Year"
while saying "Thanks for helping
to make this success story
possible."
If you have any questions, please
call us at 800-YUR-FAIR (toll free

only 40 weeks to the Fair.
