Main St. Blimpies kicks off new concept By PAULINE LEWIS Society Editor Biimpie, in the old Sing Food location on Main Street in Perry is the first of its kind out of 950 Biimpie franchises in the country. It is co-branding, putting two major names under one roof - a convenience store and a restaurant. Biimpie restaurant has a full sandwich line; full fresh bakery line, including do-nuts, single, or by the dozen, to go; full breakfast line; and full catering line. No other Biimpie has all four services. The restaurant area seats 52 and has 840 square feet of space. Biimpie is the second largest sub sandwich in the country, especially strong in the north and northwest. Their meat and cheese are sliced fresh when orders are placed. The bread is baked fresh daily inhouse with one half the calories and fat content of bread in stores. It has no food coloring, no MSG and no preservatives. Joel Dudley, Adams Oil Co. (Amoco) is Food Service Director for Biimpie restaurant. It opened Nov. 28, 1994, with restaurant hours 6 a.m. - 8 p.m., Mon. - Fri; 7 a.m. - 8 p.m., Sat.; and 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., Sun. Dudley said, "We are looking at the option of expanding our hours - we have been well-received." Store hours are: 6 a.m. - 11 p.m., Mon. - Fri.; 7 a.m. - 11 p.m., Sat. and Sun. Dot Jones is the Convenience Store Manager. The store still offers a full convenience line of merchandise, plus, it is No. 1 in Icee sales in Perry. Ribbon-cutting ceremonies were held by the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce on Feb. 1. The Grand Opening was Feb. 1-4 with prizes, drawings and mail-out discont coupons and coupons (buy one and get one free). Dudley and Jones extend a welcome to "everyone to visit and shop with us and try one of our freshly made sandwiches and fried chicken. There is plenty of parking space. Dudley said, "Biimpie chain of Submarine Sandwich Restaurants, nearing its goal of 1000 restaurants, nationally in 1995, with annual system-wide sales in excess of S2OO million, subscribes to the philosophy based on providing quality and value to the growing number of loyal customers. "Biimpie is listed in the top 100 franchises by Entrepreneur Magazine. The first Biimpie was •opened in Hoboken, N.J., in 1964.” Dudley said, "Biimpie offers franchise support, people-pleasing food and potential for profit." Randy G.
