get interneUunding By Jj JOHNSON Times-Journal Editor WARNER ROBINS Members of the Houston County Library Board are waiting news this week they will receive fund ing to enter the information high way. A part of the fiscal year 1996 budget to receive approval late this week by the Georgia General Assembly is funding for several public libraries to link to the University System internet computer communications net work. Library System Director Judy Golden told members of the board here March 9 money for the project was in the budget which would go through confer ence committees during the final week of the legislative session. Should the money clear the budget, the library system will receive money for equipment to link computers at die Warner Robins library to the University System network at Macon College. Perry and Centerville would be linked into the system through modems which would enable users at those libraries to dial into the system without paying long distance tolls. In other business, members of die library board agreed to relin quish their rights to the Houston County history book authored by Bobbie Nelson for the Bicentennial celebration 20 years ago. Nelson told board members she hopes to republish the book at a later date. The book was published through a joint arrangement with Nelson, the library board and the Houston County Commission which allowed the library system to participate in profits generated by sale of the books. Board members re-elected Jane Gramley as chairman of the group. Other officers for 1995 include Jane Perfect, vice chair man; Mike Gray, treasurer; and Dottie Stafford, secretary. Members also approved spending $370 to have Ambient Fence Co. of Perry install a fence around the satellite dish at the Perry library.
