PPG adds sl7 million to area economy
PPG Industries' Perry flat glass
plant boosted the area economy by
more than sl7 million during
1994, according to Kris E. McGee,
plant manager.
The largest single segment of
the announced economic effect,
almost $7.2 million, was for
purchases from 138 suppliers of
goods and services in a 50-mile
radius.
Area utility and transportation
expenditures ranked third at more
than $4.2 million, while costs for
environmental equipment and
operation totaled more than
$240,000.
PPG and its Perry employees
showed their concern for the
community by contributing more
than $9,000 to the United Way
campaign, and the PPG Industries
Foundation made $13,500 in grants
to worthwhile programs amt
projects in the area.
During 1994, the plant, which
began operations in 1990, added
two new product lines, GL-20 and
GL-35 gray automotive glass and
Autobronze automotive glass.
