Lynn Rowland Wright
Services for Lynn Rowland
Wright, 28, who died Oct. 12,
1996, were held Oct. 17. at 2 p.m.
at First Baptist Church of Perry
with the Rev. Glenn Grantham and
Kevin Monroe officiating. Burial
followed at Perry Memorial
Gardens.
A native of Cordele, and for
merly of Perry, she had resided in
Ft. Bragg, N.C. for 1 1/2 years.
She was a homemaker. She was a
member of the Officers’ Wives
Club and a Baptist. She attended
the Aaron Lake Baptist Church in

lived in Perry for 55 years. She
was the widow of William Melton
Gibson. She was a homemaker
and member of Perry United
Methodist Church, Suzannah
Wesley Sunday School Class and
Perry Garden Club. She was a for
mer president of the Farm Bureau
of Houston County and was the
founder and leader of the first
Head Start Program in Perry.
Survivors include her children,
Melba Gibson Deen of Perry and
Margaret G. Lynn of St. Simons

Two services held Nov. 11 paid
tribute to veterans and patriots
who have ensured the freedom
Americans enjoy during 1996.
The first was held at the
Community Center at J.Frank
Rozar Park at 11 a.m. The guest
speaker was retired Maj. Gen.
Cornelius Nugteren, former com
mander of Warner Robins Air
Logistics Center.
This event was sponsored by
the City of Perry, the Robert D.
Collins American Legion Post 24
and the Walter B. Whitten
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post
Wilsons announce
birth of son

Brantley Lanier Wilson on Oct.
28,1996.
Maternal grandparents are
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Rogers of
Perry.
Paternal grandparent is Mrs.
Harold Wilson of Perry.

Blanche Anderson Joiner, 82. who
died Nov. 3, 1996, were held Nov.

Church in Statesboro with burial
at Pinecrest Cemetery.
She was a schoolteacher and a
teacher trainer at Georgia
Services were held at
11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Nov.

Two hours later, veterans gath
ered again, this time at the Perry
High School auditorium for a pro
gram. The guest speaker was
retired Brig. Gen. Jim Seaborn.
At both services, veterans were
honored. Members of the Perry
High School Air Force JROTC
participated in both services.
