ness in Perry.”
City council member Bobby
Glover said, “We, the City, are
100 percent behind them and
encourage small business in the
City of Perry.”
Glover presented several gifts
on behalf of the city including a
key to the city and an alarm clock
to remind employees to report to
work each day.
Houston County Development
Authority member Tim Martin
welcomed the company to the
Park and noted the aesthetically
pleasing architecture of the two
story DMS building which
encompasses 13,000 square feet.
Richard Schmucker, president
of the company, said he is happy
to be located in Perry. He relocat
ed the business from temporary
quarters in Centerville about two
months ago.
The company employs 12 peo
ple who turn out parts for the C
-17 and other aircraft.
Most of the work done by
Diversified Machining Services is
performed by technicians operat
ing computerized drills and saws.
Some of the drill bits are as large
as an inch across. Many machin
ing operations are necessary to
complete each piece.
Employees begin each piece
with a solid block of metal and
trim away portions to match the
specifications provided by the
manufacturer.
The open house featured chef
prepared hors d’oeuvres and a
violinist.
