Andrew Methodist to begin parent training program Dec . 8
> Staff, Community Reports
KATHLEEN On Dec. 8, a
new ministry will begin at 7 p.m.
This once-a-month on-going class
is open to the public. The class is
for parents of young children.
The class’s purpose is to help
parents have a better understand
ing on “How to” raise children in
the 21st century. With the daily
crisis of many families, raising
kids has become a lost art, accord
ing to church pastor, the Rev.
Gene Bates.
Parents struggle with such
things as coping skills, how to
deal with love and discipline at the
same time, how to instill core val
ues into the family when the fam
ily doesn’t meet regularly, he said.
This class will meet regularly
on the second Sunday night and
everyone is invited to attend.
Bates and his wife, Kay, will lead
the class. It will be a conversation
al class where doubts and ques
tions and fears can be addressed in
light of solid solutions and ideas.
Bates is senior pastor of
Andrew UMC, one of the fastest
growing churches in Houston
County. Andrew’s Vision state
ment says in part, “children will
be our special mission.”
Kay Bates is the director of the
Kids Kingdom pre-school and
Mother’s Morning Out ministry.
With more than 20 years experi
ence in education ministry, this
couple can attest to the need for
parents to develop new skills for
raising kids in the 21st century.
To register, please call 987-
7934. This ministry is free.
