Stallions face
Florida team in
Thanksgiving bowl

sored its 34th Annual Football
Championship tournament for
Pee Wee, Mite and Midget divi
sions. In total 31 teams participat
ed.
Perry entered a team, “The
Perry Stallion” in the Midget divi
sion (12 years and under, unlimit
ed weight), which consisted of six
teams.
The players representing Perry
were selected by the coaching
staff, Tony Holder and Arthur
Adams. The Perry Stallions con
sists of 15 Perry boys, Mario
Stripling, Trenton Kendrick,
Tyler Lawhom, William Carswell,
Chad Van Horn, Telvez Wright,
Russ Landry, Prent Stokeling,
Freddy Williams, Steve (Trey)
Green, Robert Warren, Brian
Harris, Anthony Dixon, Dante
Williams and Peter Insixiengmay.
The tournament is single elim
ination. On Nov. 21 at Tift County
High School Stadium the
Fitzgerald Hurricanes defeated
the Berrien County Rebels 33-0
and the Worth County Rams
defeated Tift County in OT, 26-
20. The Perry Stallions and the
Lake City, Fla., All-Stars received
byes.
On Nov. 23, Lake City All
Stars defeated The Fitzgeral
dHurricanes, 10-6 and The Perry
Stallions defeated the Worth
County Rams 28-12.
The Perry Stallions performed
exceptionally well on offense,
defense and special teams. They
recovered two onside kicks, sev
eral quarterback sacks, and suc
cessfully ran the ball down the
field. They blocked and tackled
effectively. It was a game for
Perry to be proud of.
The Perry Stallions and the
Lake City All Stars will advance
to the 34th Annual Thanksgiving
Day Bowl held atf Tift County
High School Stadium on Nov. 28
at 5:15 p.m, setting up a Georgia-
Florida championship game.

Northrop plans car wash to support PAL program

Northrop Grumman/Georgia
Production Site is sponsroing a free car
wash to benefit the Project Agape Love
Program. The location will be next to
Stanley Discount Furniture in Perry on
Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Donations will be used to purchase
additional canned goods and various food
items to be distributed to needy families in
south Houston County.
Last year the Georgia Production Site
was a strong contributor to PAL, enabling
the program to provide groceries and toys
to 997 individuals (349 of them were chil
dren) in over 400 needy families. This
touched almost 10 percent of the commu
nity.
Red Cross sets blood drive
The American Red Cross will be hold
ing a blood drive Dec. 3 at PPG
Industries located at 801 Valley Drive in
Perry from 1:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Replica of Vietnam War
Memorial to visit Warner
Robins
ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE “The
Wall That Heals,” a half-scale traveling
replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial,
will be exhibited this wekkend at the
museum of aviation’s outdoor amphithe
ater at Robins Air Force Base in Warner
Robins.
It will be displayed 24 hours a day for
four days, beginning with opening cere
monies Nov. 29 at 10 a.m.
The replica stretches nearly 250 feet
and includes a display of memorabilia left
at the Vietnam Wall in Washington.

Television station helping Loaves
and Fishes project in Perry
MACON Channel 13 WMAZ wants
to make sure the holidays are happy times
for all Central Georgia families. So, the
station has teamed up with Hamby Auto
Dealers and Kroger for Gifts From the
Heart, a one-day food and toy drive on
Dec. 7 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
On Dec. 7, community members are
invited to donate non-perishable food
items and new and used toys at Macon
Kroger stores, Hamby Auto Dealers in
Perry and the 13 WMAZ studios on Gray
Highway in Macon.
Channel 13 WMAZ anchors Tina
Hicks, Frank Malloy, Bill Powell, and
Edward McDonald will be on hand to
greet families and sort food and toys.
Donations will be given to Loaves &
Fishes, The Middle Georgia Community
Food Bank, The Macon Rescue Mission,
DFACS, and the Salvation Armies in
Bibb, Houston and Baldwin counties.
Perry Players plan special
production Dec. 5-8
Perry Players is an all-volunteer com
munity theatre, which has presented excel
lent entertainment for this area for the past
14 years.
For the first time in its history, Perry
Players will present a Christmas gift to the
community a one-act play, “Gift of the
Magi”, based on the O. Henry short story,
and also the Truman Capote reading, “A
Christmas Memory”.
Perry Players will feature A 1 Pearson,
who appeared in the Perry Players’ presen
tation of “The Music Man”. He will do
the reading. These performances will be
held on Dec. 5,6, and 7 at 8 p.m.; the
matinee performance on Dec. 8, will be at
2:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3

Policemen take oath of office
The City of Perry has added two new
officers to the police force. On Nov. 25,
Officers Jack Johnson and Jeff Rosner
were granted their powers of arrest. The
officers are now undergoing approximate
ly seven weeks of departmental training.
A former manager of Moore’s
Department Store in Perry, Johnson is a
naitive of Quitman, Miss. He has been
married to his wife for 6 years, with no
children.
Officer Jeff Rosner, a naitive of
Houston, Texas, is the first K-9 Drug
Patrol Officer for the Perry Police
Department. Rosner is a former dog han
dler and trainer at Robins Air Force Base
and has 10 years active duty in the Air
Force. He was the officer in charge of the
explosive-detecting dog venue for the
Olympic Games in Savannah. He has
been married to his wife for 9 years, and
has 3 children.
Houston County Probate Judge Frances
Annis praised the efforts that Perry’s offi
cers have given towards the eradication of
drugs in the community.
“Often times the Chief receives the
praise for the officer’s work, .when it’s the
officers who deserve the credit,” said
Chief of Police, George Potter. Potter also
stated that there will be three new officers
arriving in December, two of which will
be bicyle patrol officers.

Harano as its
Executive Director.
Harano joins the
Houston Healthcare
MSO from Lexington
Medical Center in
West Columbia, S.C.,
where he was
employed as Director
of Physician
Network
Development since
July, 1994.
He was formerly the Director of
Physician Services of HCA Bluegrass
Regional Medical Center in Frankfort,
Ky., and an Administrative Resident at
HCA Aiken Regional Medical Center in
Aiken, S.C.
A graduate of Emory University,
Harano received his Master of Health
Administration and Master of Business
Administration from Georgia State
University.
“We are pleased to have David as our
Executive Director,” said Dr. Alan
Woolery, chairman of the MSO Board
of Directors. “He brings a wealth of
knowledge and experience to us which
will be instrumental in the growth of
our organization.”

MSO was formed in May as an organi
zation comprised of Houston Medical
Center, Perry Hospital and 94 local
physicians. The MSO represents physi
cians and hospitals in negotiating con
tracts with managed care companies, as
well as providing administrative ser
