New city police officers take oath of office

Two new Perry police officers
received the oath of office from
Houston County Probate Judge
Frances Annis during ceremonies
held recently at the Houston
County Courthouse.
Taking the oath were Jack
Johnson and Jeff Rosner, both
recent graduates of the Macon
Police Training Academy, accord
ing to Police Chief George Potter.
A former manager of Moore's
Department Store in Perry.
Johnson is a native of Quitman.

“Often times the Chief receives
the praise for the officers’ work,
when it’s the officers who deserve
the credit,” said Potter.
Potter also stated that there will
be three new officers arriving in
December, two of whom will be
come mounted bicycle patrol offi
cers.
Donations will be used to pur
chase additional canned goods
and various food items to be dis
tributed to needy families in south
Houston County.
Last year the Georgia
Production Site employees were
strong supporters of the PAL
fund-raising effort, enabling the
program to provide groceries and
toys to 997 individuals (349 of
them were children) in more than
400 needy families. This touched
almost 10 percent of the commu
nity.
Donations will be collected at
the car wash site during the hours
of operation, a spokesman said.
P.A.L. donations will be dis
tributed in the community about
three days before Christmas,
according to a spokesman.
