GSP reports three wrecks in area during Thanksgiving

The Georgia State Patrol Post
15 in Perry reported working
three accidents in their area that
includes Houston, Peach, Macon
and Pulaski counties over the
Thanksgiving holiday period.
According to Post 15 Trooper
W.B. Wiley, “We had three acci
dents with five injuries and no
fatalities. Out of the three, one of
the accidents occurred on the
interstate.
“We also made 930 arrests,
gave 217 warnings, and had one
DUI during the Thanksgiving
weekend,” added the trooper.
Totals for the state came in at
3,168 accidents, up from the pre
dicted 2,743; 905 injuries and 17
fatalities.
Also statewide troopers made
16,597 arrests, reported 400 DUIs
and handed out 16,020 warnings,
according to Wiley.
Christmas fund expands
for 1996

started a fund for needy families.

in a big way. Although the fund is
not a part of the church, those that
were interested in dividing their
goods and wanted a blessing,
brought groceries and gifts,
including turkeys and hams, for
the needy.
This year, the fund has been
given the name of “Wannie’s
Christmas Fund” in honor of
Winnie Henson’s sister. Wannie
died three weeks ago of a heart
attack. The fund has expanded
from Hayneville to Blackshear, to
Alma, to Baxley and Callahan,
Fla., when Winnie’s family was
made a part of it.
Proceeds given to “Wannie’s
Christmas Fund” will go to a
needy family in Perry. The father

Fire destroys camphouse
An'early morning fire at a cam
phouse located off Bear Branch
Road totally destroyed the struc
ture and had rescue personnel
worried someone may have been
inside when a propane tank
exploded during the blaze.
That, however, was not the
case, as personnel found out when

Neighbors in the 400 block of
Bear Branch Road heard the
explosion of the propane tank,
which was one of several tanks
inside the building at the time of
the blaze. The others did not
explode.
The camphouse, located along
Mossy Creek, survived the Flood
of 1994 noted Hank Perry, an
acquaintance of property owner
Richard Bramblett.
The cause of the blaze is still
under investigation.

by bid:
One Hobart Walk-In Cooler
One Bally Walk-In Freezer
Both units are located at Shirley Hills Elementary School, 300 Mary Lane, Warner Robins,
GA. Refrigerant has been removed from both unites. Both unites have not been operated
for approximately one year. There is no warranty. Freezer and Cooler unites are as is, where
is. All sales are final. Units may be inspected from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on December 9,10,
and 11, 1996. All bids must be submitted no later than 10:00 a.m., December 12,1996. Bid
forms are available at the site and at the Board office in Perry, GA. Mark Bid envelopes
