Program
MGMAC holds annually to raise funds for the Museum of
Aviation.
Georgia Invitational Golf Tournament - This annual
event is an annual fund raiser for the Museum of Aviation.
It has raised more than $ 1 million for this key tourism and
educational tool. Brigadier General Robert Scott (Ret) and
former U.S. Senator Sam Nunn are honorary chairpersons
for the event, which draws participants from major corpo
rations and dignitaries in Georgia and the Nation.
Spring/Fall Social- This is our local appreciation event
for the Warner Robins AFB/ALC Commanding General
and his senior staff.
Base Functions & Socials - The WRAFB/PA invites
members of the Perry Military Affairs Committee to vari
ous receptions, briefings, and events. These show our sup
port for the base and maintain relationships with key base
personnel.
21st Century Partnership- The middle Georgia area cre
ated this organization to handle the briefings during the
BRAC hearings of the 1990’5. The organization remains in
operation to keep informed of defense issues that affect the
base. The Perry Area Chamber of Commerce Chairman of
the Board and the President/CEO serve on the board of di
rectors.
Public Relations
Chairperson: Betty Ramsdale, Perry Bookstore
Purpose: To promote the Perry Area Chamber of Com
merce to its membership and public.
Projects: This committee plans, participates and finances
the following events.
Business After Hours -This is a networking opportunity
for members of the Chamber of Commerce. We hold the
event bi-monthly in the evenings. A local business sponsors
the event, which allows them to showcase their product/ser
vice. Members who attend build a web of new clients and
contacts for their businesses.
Good Morning Perry Breakfast - This is a networking
opportunity for members of the Chamber of Commerce. We
hold the event bi-monthly in the mornings. A local sponsor
provides a continental breakfast. The City of Perry ,the
Georgia National Fairgrounds, and the Chamber of Com
merce give updates on their operations. A guest speaker
gives a 15-20 minute program on an issue, business, etc.
The Perry Chamber of Commerce “Students of the Month”
are also presented at this event.
Secretary’s Luncheon - We hold this event annually as a
service for local businesses. The Chamber of Commerce
provides a luncheon, program, and gifts for local secre
tary’s on Secretary’s Day. We hold the event at Houston
lake Country Club.
Ambassadors- Members of this committee attend Cham
ber of Commerce and community events to show Chamber
of Commerce involvement and support.
Newsletter - The Chamber of Commerce plans to pro
duce anew, high-quality quarterly newsletter that we will
send to members, all south Houston County businesses, and
elected officials at all levels. This new publication will al
low members to write articles about their areas of expertise
as well.

lishes a monthly briefing and newcomers update to mem
bers only on key issues and events. Plans are to convert this
publication into a facsimile broadcasted publication.
Annual Meeting
Chairperson: Pat Buice
Purpose: Plan and carry out physical logistics of annual
meeting.
Projects: This committee plans, participates and finances
the Annual Meeting
Annual Meeting - The Perry Area Chamber of Com
merce holds an Annual Meeting each January to report to
the membership, induct the Chairman of the Board, recog
nize outgoing directors, and honor community volunteers.
The banquet also features a renown speaker of state, na
tional, or international importance
Past Chairpersons
Chairperson: Andy Flowers, Sun Trust
Purpose: To utilize the experience and expertise of past
chamber of commerce leadership to help create policy, ad
vise current leadership, and be ambassadors.
Bylaws and Policies Review - The bylaws and written
policies of the Chamber of Commerce are working docu
ments that should evolve with the needs of the membership.
Long Range Planning - The Chamber of Commerce
does not have a comprehensive, long range planning docu
ment from which to set its an. ial program of work. Such a
document should relate to similar documents within the
City of Perry, however, the City also lacks a long range
plan.
There are internal operations within the Chamber of
Commerce that require long range planning as well.. This
committee will assist the current leadership with planning.
Nominations - This year the Chamber of Commerce’s
bylaws will be changed to designate the Past- Chairmans’
Committee as the nominating committee for Chamber of
Commerce officers and directors.
VIP Leadership - As ambassadors of the Chamber of
Commerce, this committee is called upon to represent the
Chamber and Perry at various local and state events.
Ambassadors - As ambassadors, members of this select
group are spokespersons for the benefits of chamber mem
bership. In their professional capacities, these members can
also relay chamber successes to others, as well as be the
eyes and ears for emerging community issues which the
chamber should address.

of Commerce committees, the following internal operations

1. Two new middle schools,
Bonair & Feagin Mill, opened
their doors.
2. Riverwood International began
operations in its new S3O mil
lion carton converting facility in the
Perry Parle.
3. Frito-Lay completed a $25 mil
lion expansion for its “Better-For-
You” line of low and no-fat snacks.
4. PPG began a $lB million
upgrade to its facility.
5. Tolleson Lumber Company
announced a $6 million expansion
to its Perry faciiity.
6. (ntrosul, Inc. completed an
18,000 sq. ft. expansion in the
Perry Park.
7. Diversified Machining Services

8. Valley Electronics selected a

11. The Board of Education moved
into its newly renovated administra
tion building.
12. Middle Georgia Cogen and
Georgia Power Company hosted a
ground breaking for anew $l5O
million Cogeneration plant in
Kathleen.
