Firm offers guide
to reduced cost
hospital care
Special to the Times-Journal
Anew book helps consumers
get free and low cost hospital
care. The Cost Containment
Research Institute in Washington,
D.C. has published a 64-page
book “Free and Low Cost
Hospital Care”.
The book describes how and
where to get free and low cost
hospital care under the Hill-
Burton program.
The Hill-Burton program was
established in 1946 to assist in
the construction and moderniza
tion of hospitals and medical care
facilities. Nearly 6 billion dollars
in grants and loans were given to
7,000 facilities in over 4,000
communities, including Perry.
Perry Hospital was the last hospi
tal built with Hill-Burton funds.
The book contains nearly 700
participating Hill-Burton hospital
facilities arranged in state order.
A step-by-step outline guides
consumers through the process of
finding a participating facility,
and applying to determine their
eligibility for free or low cost
care.
Consumers can receive a copy
by sending $3 to cover the cost of
postage and handling to: Free and
Low Cost Hospital Care, Book
