FSA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR RETIRES James Taunton,
Executive Director of the Houston County FSA Office in
Perry has retired.
Talton retires from FSA

James Taunton, Executive
Director for the Houston County
Farm Services Agency Office, was
honored by his fellow co-workers
with a surprise luncheon and was
presented with a plaque Jan. 14 at
the Houston County Agriculture
Extension Building on Carroll
Street in Perry.
Taunton is a native of Taylor
County and a graduate of the

University of Georgia, having
majored in economics. He began
his work lin Wilkinson County
prior to coming to Houston
County in July 1972.
He and his wife, Angela
(Angie),a native of Bibb County
live in Bibb County and he drove
to Perry every day to work. Both
are members of Tattnall Square
Baptist Church.
Taunton plans to enjoy sports
and perhaps find some other work.

County Governors Honors nominees honored

Rosemary Culpepper, Director
of Gifted Education, has
announced Governor’s Honors
Program candidates selected from
each Houston County high school.
These candidates were inter
viewed Jan. 25 and Feb. 1 by a
state committee which will select
finalists from the school system.
A recognition breakfast was
held for those students and their
parents on Jan. 31 at 7:30 a.m. at
Northside High School.
