Notice is hereby given that a spe
cial election shall be held in Houston
County on Tuesday, March 18,1997,
at the regular polling places in all elec
tion districts in Houston County,
Georgia, for the purpose of submitting
to the qualified voters of Houston
County, Georgia the question of
whether a sales and use tax will be
imposed, levied and collected in
Houston County for educational pur
poses of the Houston County School
District, at the rate of one percent, as
authorized by the Constitution of
Georgia, for a time period not to
exceed twenty calendar quarters, for
the following purpose:
1. Providing funds to finance
repayment or general obligation
bona indebtedness of the
Houston County School District
for Houston County School
District General Obligation
Bonds Series 1993 and 1996,
by payment of principal and
interest as it becomes due or by
payment of principal by sched
uled maturity or optional and
mandatory redemption prior to
maturity for bonds coming due

Under and by virtue of the Power of
Sale contained in a Security Deed given
by Thomas J. Savala to Collateral
Investment Company, dated November
28, 1983, recordea in Deed Book 642,
Page 755, Houston County, Georgia
Records, as last transferred to GE Capital
Mortgage Services. Inc. by assignment to
be recorded in the Office of the Clerk of
the Superior Court of Houston County,
Georgia, conveying the after-described
property to secure a Note in the original
principal amount of Fifty Thousand &
No/100 Dollars ($50,000.00), with
interest thereon as set forth therein, there
will be sold at public outcry to the highest
bidder for cash before the courthouse
door of Houston County, Georgia, within
the legal hours of sale on the first Tuesday
in March, 1997, the following described
property: All that tract or parcel of land sit
uate, lying and being in Land Lot 1 1 1, of
the Fifth Land District of Houston Countv
Georgia which is known and designated
as Lots 6 and 7, Clavin Court Subdivision
according to a plat of said subdivision
which is of record in Plat Book 20, Page
185 Clerk's Office, Houston Superior
Court The said plat is incorporated here
in by reference for all purposes.
The debt secured by said Security
Deed has been and is hereby declared
due because of, among other possible
events of default, failure to pay the indebt
edness as and when due and in the man
ner provided in the Note and Security
Deed. The debt remaining in default, this
sale will be made for the purpose of pay
ing the same and all expenses of this sale,
as provided in the Security Deed and by
law, including attorney's fees (notice of
intent to collect attorney's fees having
been given).
Said property will be sold subject to
any outstanding ad valorem taxes (includ
ing taxes which are a lien, but not yet due
and payable), any matters which might be
disclosed by an accurate survey and
inspection of the property, any assess
ments, liens, encumbrances, zoning ordi
nances, restrictions, covenants, and mat
ters of record superior to the Security
Deed first set out above.
To the best knowledge and belief of
the undersigned, the party in possession
of the property is James M. Barnwell and
Sharon P. Barnwell or a tenant or tenants
and said property is more commonly
known as 100 Calvin Court, Centerville,
GA 31028.

voting precincts or the election districts

polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to
7:00 p.m. on the day fixed for the elec
tion. All residents of Houston County
qualified to vote at such election shall
be determined in all respects in accor
dance with the election laws in the
State of Georgia. The last day to regis
ter to vote in this Special Election is
February 18, 1997. This notice is given
pursuant to a resolution of the Board of
Education and the Board of Elections of
Houston County, Georgia.
