Post 15 license exam hours change brings long lines
By EMILY JOHNSTONE
Times-Journal Staff
Recent long lines of people at local theatres
waiting to see the re-release of Star Wars
looked somewhat like the long line of folks in
line for licensing purposes at the Georgia State
Patrol Office in Perry earlier this month.
These long lines are more than likely a
result of a change in the schedule of license
examiners in the area.
Finally, first class treatment
for first class people!

According to Public Information Director of
the Georgia Department of Public Safety
Gordy Wright, a “travel team concept” has
been implemented into the license issue system
that allows examiners to travel to a larger num
ber of counties to issue drivers’ license and
identification cards.
Previously, license examiners were at the
Perry Post 15 five days a week. Now, that has

“There were places that really didn’t justify
five days a week,” said Wright. “The new sys
tem seem to be doing well.”
And, while the wait now may be longer at
places like Post 15, Wright said, “We want the
most efficient system. This is so there is no lag
time with the employees (license examiners).”
Hours that examiners will be at Post 15 are 9
a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, he said.
