band to perform
at Fairgrounds
The U.S. Coast Guard
Academy NiteCaps Cadet Jazz
Band frohl New London, Conn.,
will present a public performance
at the McGill Building at the
Georgia National Fairgrounds and
Agricenter in Perry March 8 at
7:30 p.m.
This free concert is open to the
public. This performance will be
in conjunction with the group’s
concert tour to Florida.

The local AARP chamber
members will present 55-ALIVE ,
on Feb. 27-28, at 1-5 and 6-10
p.m. each day, at the Perry
Hospital dining room. Cost of the
course is $8 per person, age 50
and above.
Upon completion of the course,
participants are eligible for a 10
percent discount on their auto
insurance. Both days must be
attended to qualify for the dis
count. v
The course is sponsored by
EDUCARE, a service of the
Houston Health Care Complex.

Before the business meeting, a
moment of silence was held in
memory of the recently deceased
members, Betty Jacobs and Helen
Mason.
The president, Norma Cheek,
conducted the business meeting.
Alice Gilbert introduced the
speaker, Margaret Matthews of
Warner Robins who works as a
psychologist for the Houston
County Schools.
She spoke to the group about
“Camp Can Do”, which is held
each summer for the mentally and
physically challenged children of
Houston County. She showed pic
tures of the activities of the camp.

The Valentine’s Day Dinner at
First Baptist Church Feb. 14 was
emceed by Eddie Wilson.
After the dinner, for which
tickets were sold out, those attend
ing were entertained by Wilson
with games, including several
women trying to identify their
husbands’ feet, and Norman
Tomlinson’s guessing game
involving baby pictures of some
of the older church members.
Young boys of the church
served the meal; young girls kept
the nursery. Boys who served
were: Britt Lowie, Brad Collins,
Randall Loggins, Josh Crockett,
