TURNING OVER TO A NEW BEGINNING Officials gathered at a location along Go.
96 April 11 to break ground for the new Department of Family and Childrens Services
building. Sen. Sonny Perdue attended the ceremony, calling the construction of the facil
ity part of a "new beginning." It is part of "reform lifting people up in a culture that
really wants to be changed," Perdue said.
Building permits
down from 1996
From Staff Reports
Building permits for 145 single
family dwellings were issued dur
ing the first three months of the
year for unicorporated Houston
County, according to officials.
That is down from 200 for the
same date one year ago.
For the city of Perry during
those three months there were
three permits issued.
Seven were issued for
Centerville during the same time
period.
That results in a total number
of 227 county wide.
Perry was issued three mobile
home permits, Warner Robins had
17 and Centerville had four issued
during January, February and
March.
Unincorporated areas had 78
issued.
