ON TOUR FOR PERRY Christy Williamson (fourth from right, front
row, a teacher at Perry High School, was one of 25 teachers from
across the state selected to attend the Ninth Local Government
Seminar in Athens recently. The Perry city government provided a
scholarship for Williamson. Through field trips like this one to the
Athens Recycling center, discussion sessions, and lectures, the teacher
participants received instruction and materials to educate their stu
dents about how local government affects their daily lives and about
the importance of active citizenship. The seminar is conducted by the
Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia.
