Youth host lunch, auction for families at Houston Lake Baptist

Following the morning service at Houston
Lake Baptist Church April 20, the youth chick
en dinner and hake auction was held. Tjje bar
becue chicken was prepared by Larry Sterner.
Cakes, pies and brownies were auctioned off.
Proceeds will benefit the Youth Ministry of
this church and the June 25 Mission Trip to
Worcester, Mass..
Homecoming Day at Houston Lake Baptist
Church will be held May 4. The Homecoming
theme is “New Horizons lsaiah 40-31.
Former staff member Steve Stokes will speak
at 11 a.m.
Dinner on the grounds will follow. The
Lakeshore Quartet from Atlanta will sing at
1:30, followed by a theme interpretation con
test. The categories include adults, youth and
children. Each person may submit one original
poem, song or essay on typewritten page or
length. All entries must be submitted by April
27.

Vacation Bible School will be held at
Houston Lake Baptist Church July 13-18. The
theme this year is the “Good New Stampede” -
look for real horses! ?

Kirkland Singers
Members of the Perry Church of God of
Marshallville Road will host the Mann
Kirkland Singers April 27 at 6 p.m.
The Rev. David Alan Smith said the regular
church services are at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. each
Sunday. Sunday school is at 10 a.m.
Wednesday worship is at 7:30 p.m.

breakfast May 1
There will be a Prayer Breakfast at the Perry
Holiday Inn at 7 a.m.. May 1. Cost is $6:37,

A seminar, featuring the Rev. Dr. John E.
Grauley, senior pastor of Westminster
Presbyterian Church, Gainesville, will be held
May 2, 9 - 12 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church
in Macon. Grauley is the former director of the
Counselling Center.
The seminar is open to everyone and there is
no charge. Call (912) 742-6940 to make a
reservation.. A continental breakfast will be
served at 9:30 a.m..
Grauley will also be guest speaker for the
Middle Georgia Pastoral Counseling Center
Banquet in the fellowship hall of Macon First
Presbyterian Church, at 6:30 p.m. that day.

Betsy Skelton and Jeff Candell have plans to
accompany seven senior high youth from the
Perry Presbyterian Church on a mission trip to
the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation of South
Dakota June 19-23.
According to church officials, the youths
and adults will participate with at least three
other churches in doing Bible clubs for the
children in the morning, construction projects
in the afternoon and friendship evangelism

ticipants is required to memorize 24 scripture
verses, which form a gospel outline, and 12
verses concerning spiritual warfare.
Each participant will practice and present to
the group a brief presentation of the gospel
message. Each member will take part in teach
ing and running the Bible club.
This reservation is itself a county the
poorest in the United States. A fund-raising
dinner will be on the grounds at Perry
Presbyterian Church at noon, May 18.
Proceeds will benefit the trip.

planned for May 3
The General Missionary Baptist Convention
of Georgia Women of Excellence Unity Fest
‘97 will be held on the former campus of Ebon
Preparatory Academy in Forsyth May 3 to
make the Women’s Center a reality.
Members of General Membership Baptist
Convention churches are encouraged to car
pool, dress casually and come to the campus
with a picnic lunch for the meeting.
