Chamber finds reaction to
health insurance program
strong, members added
By Jj JOHNSON
Times-Journal Editor
Based on inquiries, the new Perry Area
Chamber of Commerce group health
insurance program is proving a success.
Chamber Chairman Rob Tuggle told
members of the Board of Directors April
17 that five area agencies which are
members of the chamber are offering the
package to clients.
The plan, outlined to chamber mem
bers during a March breakfast meeting,
enables businesses with as few as two
interested members, to quality for group
rate health insurance.
Chamber officials are not acting as
brokers, but rather refer business to par
ticipating member agents on a rotating
basis.
Tuggle said several referrals have been
made, and that there have been several
inquiries about chamber membership
because of the availability of the plan.
He said the business organization
would use the availability of group health
insurance as a selling factor during anew
member recruitment drive which begins
May 5.
