Pursuant to O.C.G.A. 15-1
any party claiming an interest in the fol
lowing property is hereby notified that on
the 31 st day of May, 1996, the follow
ing property was seized by the Warner
Robins Police Department, and there is a
forfeiture action pending against said
property in the Superior Court of Houston
County, Georgia.
The description of the seized property
is as follows: One man's yellow color
ring with clear stones, and one 1988
Mark I Isuzu, Georgia TAG #GAZB7S,
VIN #JA8RT2177J7423904.
The conduct that gave rise to the
seizure of the above-described property
is as follows: On said date, a search war
rant was executed at 102 Charles Circle,
Warner Robins, Houston County,
Georgia. The warrant produced 12
grams of suspected crack cocaine.
This property is forfeitable under
O.C.G.A. 16-13~49(dl (2), (3), (4), and
(6) in that it was found in close proximify
to the contraband, represents proceeds
from illegal drug activity, and was pos
sessed, used, or available for use to facil
itate a violation of the Georgia
Controlled Substances Act.
You are hereby notified that you must
file an answer to the forfeiture action
which complies with O.C.G.A. 16-13-
49(o), within thirty (30) days of the date
of final publication. Said answer must be
filed with the Court and must be served

From Staff Reports
MACON Plains resident
and Mercer University graduate
Daniel G. Ariail received the 1997
Meritorious Service Award during
Mercer Alumni Weekend cere
monies.
Ariail is former pastor of the
Perry First Baptist Church.
Recipients of the annual award
are recognized for their outstanding
achievements in service to their com
munities and for continued demon
strations of support of the Alumni
Association and the University, a
school spokesman said.
Ariail, who received an under
graduate degree from Mercer in
1960 and earned master of divini
ty and doctorate of ministry
degrees from the Southern Baptist
Theological Seminary, is pastor of
the Maranatha Baptist Church of
Plains.
Ariail is an active member of
the Plains community, serving as a
Potpourri
and Bob Olive of Statesboro, and
Beverly Olive of St. Simons
Island.

Maxine gradually worked
shorter hours because of her
health and the drive from Warner
Robins to Perry, and eventually
left The Perry Times and became
a contributing columnist for The
Houston/Peach Neighbors.
Her columns were always
warm, chatty, and usually family
oriented. She told of things she
remembered growing up and life
as Grandma Harper saw it.
Despite her frailty, Maxine kept a
pleasant disposition, seeming to
look at life through rose-colored
glasses. She was a friend, and we
will miss her and her interesting
columns.
