The Houston County
Extension Service has research
based, up-to-date instruction for
ail kinds of food preservation.
Call today for leaflets on canning
fruits and vegetables, freezing,
jelly and jam making, pickling
and even drying.
If you are interested in a cook
book-style reference on food
preservation, request an order
form. The “So Easy to Preserve”
book is available for sls.

Church Home adds senior day care
Church Home Senior Activity
Center has been established at the
Church Home for the Aged, 2470
U.S. 41 North.. The center is to
provide a safe, secure Christian
environment for dependent adults
and an alternate choice for family
care givers.
The center is a ministry of the
Christ Sanctified Holy Church
and is designed to meet the needs
of the community. The program is
designed to help adults maintain
their independence, and to prevent
early institutionalization.
Clients typically include early
stage Alzheimer's patients, early
stage dementia patients, stroke
recovery patients, recuperating
surgical patients, post-rehabilita
tion patients and senior adults
needing socialization.

Lawrence spending
summer as CES
volunteer in Perry

Norma Lawrence, a Fort
Valley State University student,
is working as an intern with the
Houston County Extension
Service this summer.
The internship is designed to
provide hands-on Extension
experience for college students,
according to Peggy Bledsoe,
Houston County Extension
Director.
Lawrence plans to complete
her degree in infant and child
development in the spring of
1998. After receiving her degree,
she will begin teaching in a day
care setting.
A native of Fort Valley,
Lawrence lives in Marshallville
with her husband and two daugh
ters.
Asked why she decided to go
back in school after having chil
dren, she replied, “I decided I

Judge George F. Nunn Jr. of the
Houston Judicial Circuit heard
oral argument with the Georgia
Supreme Court recently in a case
in which a member of the court
was disqualified.
Nunn, a Peny resident, filled in for
Justice Hugh P. Thompson during the
